I wouldn't read too much either way, according to most Australian media and channel 9, it's a 15 team competition

I've been posting on this site for a few years and generally do not get caught up in the rumour miill, however...

I caught up with a friend who is as close to Keza Foran as anybody.

His comments:

Foran only really caught up with the Warriors this week. He was impressed by Doyle and Cappy. He and Johnson become good mates during the recent 4 Nations and Foran has acknowledged that he needs an X factor player at 7. Johnson ticks this box. No bad blood with the way that his brother, Liam, was treated by the Warriors a few years ago.

Some of the other clubs in the mix:

Manly - As per media reports, there are a lot of unhappy players there and DCE does not get on with everyone. Foran loves living on the Northern Beaches and Manly have offered him captaincy and the opportunity to become a one club man

Bulldogs - Still close to Des Hasler so a definite option although their #7 is not a Johnson type player

Parramatta - Really rates coach Brad Arthur & Watmough is there now too

Easts - His best mate, Mitchell Pearce, is there and they do have $

All the money deals will be about the same from the above clubs so $ wont be the deciding factor. He did say that payments outside of the cap are still common place (think about the old school brown paper bags)

My friend does not think he'll end up at the Warriors.

This is legit not just made up!

I still believe this to be 100% true with the media now reporting that PARRA are favs to get his signature

I had hoped he'd play for us but never thought we'd be first choice. Foran at the Warriors would be good but I too don't think it'll happen. SJ & CT played well together this year, mainly when TL didn't play and with a season under his belt, ST will be much better. But the one I think will really impressed other than above will be Lolohea.
If we get Merrin then we'll be serious contenders

Tony Veitch saying on his radio programme to expect a big announcement next week ... he thinks signing of Steve Matai.

Great if true.

So we'd have a full strength back line featuring matai manu hurrell tomkins and fusitua?
Laumape kata allwood wright fish in reserves

Hope signing matai won't affect our chances of getting Merrin or Foran

I'd go:
1, Tompkins
2, Laumape
3, Matai
4, Hurell (when not injured)
5, Manu
6, Townsend
7, SJ

Leaves fusitua (could do with more time in NSW), Fish (injury prone), Kata, Allwood.

I think it's safe to say it won't. We'd need to have a chance for it to affect our chance.

Agreed, although I would be tempted to use Fish if and when he is available.
