Might get Taumalolo..
RACE FOR TAUMALOLO DOWN TO TWO CLUBS
Written by GREG PRICHARD, February 26, 2015
JASON Taumalolo is about to tell the Cowboys and Warriors which of the two clubs is going to get his signature for 2016 and beyond.
The players manager, Gavin Orr, tells RLW he expects the most sought-after forward in the NRL to make a decision on his future either today or tomorrow.
He wants to get it out of the way before the comp starts, Orr says. I was up at Townsville yesterday and Jason and his family were tossing it around. I told him to sleep on it. I think youll find hell make a decision either today or tomorrow. Its a two-horse race the Warriors and the Cowboys.
Orr says it is a case of Taumalolo having to decide between the North Queensland club that he is comfortable with and was brought through to first grade at, and going back to where he was born, in Auckland, which is also enticing.
It will come down to a choice between the environment that he knows, the coach hes comfortable with and the team hes comfortable with, and the opportunity to go back to where he comes from, where hes got a lot of friends, and play for another good team, Orr says.
He has to decide which team he thinks will be closest to winning a premiership within a couple of years. The main factors are the benefit to his football and some family factors as well. His family is very important to him.
The Warriors have made the bigger offer, but Orr says money wont be the major factor in Taumalolos decision.
Hes only 21, the money side of things will come, Orr says.
Hes seriously considering these two options. Theres not a big difference in the money between the two clubs. Its been over-exaggerated, what the Warriors offer was. Jason has met with everyone he needs to meet with from the Warriors. Hes got all the information and now he and his family will make a decision.
