Good luck to Prior, with our jobs for the boys mentality we are probably stuck with Dan Hint as the main front row enforcer.:?

Cronulla has signed Matt Prior from the Dragons on a two-year-deal, beginning in 2014.

The 26-year-old quality forward had fielded offers from Melbourne and Parramatta before settling on the Sharks.

Official Statement
The Sharks have acquired the services of Dragon Matt Prior, with the Grand Final winning forward today signing a two year deal with the club beginning in 2014.

With the retirements of experienced props Ben Ross, Mark Taufua and Jon Green, as Sharks coach Shane Flanagan explained, the signing of the 26-year-old Prior is a boost to the Sharks forward stocks for 2014.

“Matt is a quality player and someone with plenty of experience who will add to the depth we have in the forwards,” Flanagan said.

“He has shown he has the ability to play a number of positions but we are looking for him to play in the forwards, front row-second row, for us and are confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”

An Illawara junior hailing from the Thirroul club, Prior debuted in the NRL in 2008 and has gone on to play 120 games in the top grade. He played in 23 of the 24 games contested by the Dragons in 2013.

Prior, who stands 190cms and weighs 106kgs, was a member of the St George Illawarra premiership winning side in 2010 and represented Country Origin in 2011.

Sharks player recruitment for the 2014 season will continue, with Prior set to join fellow newcomer Blake Ayshford at the club next year.

The pair will join the rest of the Sharks 2014 squad when they assemble for the start of pre-season training in early November.

Hate it when the Sharks get any of our players, no matter who they are.
Interesting that Prior had three clubs after him.
He is a Dragons junior, for f**ks sake!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still ...he is already 26 already, and just 190cm and 106kg. He's got GF winning experience and only represented Country origin. He's clearly too small, inexperienced and past his use-by date. And there are heaps of better Forwards for us out there.

FFS... not only are we self mutilating, but we are giving the Sharks a first aid kit!

Instead, why don't we just "re-brand" and re-launch Matt Prior. We can give him dark hair, some tats, give him a new Name and Parade him in front of the cameras as the hottest new Forward from the Italian Super-League. No-one would be wiser and no-one would know how to do the Research.

grrrrrr

It's the salary cap doing its job and as much as I'd like to see Prior stay at the club I think the right decision was made. Prior's value was that he was cheap and under the radar. As soon as other teams get interested then you kinda lose that.

really??
salary cap doing its job??
so explain how a team just outside the top 4 this season has the cash to sign him, espcecially with their current star studded forward pack, and players like Fifita getting a big upgrade due to becoming an origin player??
if Prior was to sign for the eels then i would agree... but signing with the sharks hardly justifies the salary cap doing its job
