Privatisation Of Knights

Back on the agenda this week.

Privatisation will be discussed by Burraston with the board at a meeting this week.

If not full privatisation, at least part.

It has to be done, because if we can exhaust just about every possible sponsorship revenue avenue, have a good season on the field, and STILL lose money - its the only viable option to secure our long term future.

Hopefully the stubborn mindset of our members who are mostly pension age, realises it before its too late and votes for privatisation when it finally comes around.

The only way to go - Nathan Tinkler would jump at the chance - If part privatisation open the other to the general public for investment - I know I'd be in

It simply has to happen.

Almost every successful club right now are privately owned, even if News Corp own/part own some of them.

Privatisation will be NRL wide in 10 years time. The only way the game will survive. I can literally see an A League type regeneration of this game just like the S word from 1997.

I can't understand why Newcastle people are so against it. The Jets are privately owned and nobody seems to give a toss about it, but as soon as it's mentioned in relation to the Knights everyone seems to be up in arms about it. When ever it's mooted people seem to be threatened by it thinking that the owner would demand to control everything, but in realality anyone with enough money to buy the club would have enough buisness sense to use profesionals to run the place, pretty much like they would be doing with their other buisness interests.
Like it or not, I don't think the club can continue in it's present format, we are losing money on a reg basis, and as was written in one of todays papers we have teetered on the brink for so many years, banks just won't touch us to enable us to get outside interests to generate income for the club. We've exhausted all avenues of sponsorship in the town and still come up short. Time to move on, privatisation is the obvious answer, and yes Tinkler would be ideal, and he's interested.

If Con bought out the Knights I would give serious thought to not supporting them anymore.

That's how much I hate Con Constantine

Id prefer it wasnt a wealthy benefactor deal. Because to be honest, as appealing as that sounds its no more stable than having the club run things. Id prefer a consortium take the majorty and the public the rest.

Cons days at the jets wont end well for them, as much as i hate to say it he is tipping money down a black hole and though he is wealthy, his pockets only go so deep. They won the premiership last year with by far the lowest wage bill in the comp, cant see that happening too often. They then lost their best prospects to a richer club, basically because Con is tight.

I want a stable sustainable plan that puts us on course to grow financially every year, not just someone tipping money into a black hole until they are tired of it.

Key staff would walk out of the Knights if Con got the Knights.

They are still owed money from when they worked at the Jets.

Having spokes to former and current staff and players from the Jets, Con runs the most unprofessional business around.

It would be disaster if he got the Knights.

The way he pig-headedly dealt with the players walking out at the end of last season shows how he runs a football club. I certainly dont want that at my club...

Compared to current management who had a monopoly on the market for years being the only team in town of note for any sport, and massive crowds and still couldnt turn a profit.

I have no faith in any management former or current.

I'd be fine if the Knights privatised 49% of the club.

Get us into the black each year and stop Burro whinging about seeing red.

Who the hell is going to spend millions and not have the final say in the important issues for the club. Answer is no one. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

I reiterate any management is better then what we have/have had.
