I think it will support 4k video content in the near future but not games. The next gen systems can only output 60fps at 720p/900p/1080p, so 4k gaming on consoles is a long while off yet. They aren't powerful enough.

It will probably feature on the PS5 / next Xbox.

I loled.

Every report I have seen on next gen say that the quality in graphics has to be seen first hand.

Videos dont show it as they are not of a high enough quality.

I've seen some YouTube vids with the PS4 camera, the Playroom.
Just looks so cute, makes me wanna per-order one now. I'm so impatient, I need to finish my PS3 games then I can get one, but that probably won't happen. If PS4 was backwards compatible it would crush X-Bone by even more.

the 1% total was before release.

It was calculated using all units 'shipped' to retailers and the number of returns from that total.

In reality, the issues are pretty bad as those reporting them got the console early, and we know for a fact that 100% of consoles were not released early.

The issues aren't "pretty bad", if they were then Microsoft shills like Polygon would be frothing at the mouth about it. Out of over 1 million sold, we haven't heard about many hardware failures at all. And besides, most hardware launches of any kind have a 3-5% failure rate on average, hence why only idiot fanboys are blowing this out of proportion.

And plus, it can't be that bad when Sony are replacing those broken PS4s immediately....They seem to confirm again that 1% figure and, from what I've seen, that makes sense. 1% for hardware failures is a great number.

“We also understand that some units were reportedly damaged during shipping. The number of affected PS4 systems is less than 1%, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction. We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged”

“SCEA is exchanging units with new replacements for those who call our support line,” he says. “The exchanges are immediate with expedited shipping.”

The figure was 0.4% before release, and Sony has released a statement today that it is still below 1%.

Anything less than 3% in electronics, especially at launch is considered to be the holy grail of manufacturing.

Whether that number continues to stay below that remains to be seen. The issue is 'pretty bad' as you put it as a result of social media, this is a relatively new phenomenon. In terms of real defects to this point, the number is extremely low.

Got mine last week, played some resogun and nba 2k14 before I jumped on a plane for work for the week. Man videos on the net do not do them any justice whatsoever. Incredible to look at.

I'm so jealous, lol. Mine's going to arrive before Christmas, got lucky by getting in early on that JB Hi-fi second shipment.

If the numbers that they are now quoting are correct, then that is great. Better than expected in reality.

However, that initial <1% was reported before general release, using the general release sales figures. That was my point.

Fair enough mate. They've had further confirmations in a few more articles from different people about the 1% figure, so it definitely seems like that is the case.
