Quade Cooper knocks back Parramatta Eels offer to switch to NRL and sticks with Wallabies

THE Wallabies are set to receive a massive boost on the eve of tomorrow night's Bledisloe Cup clash by announcing the re-signing of star five-eighth Quade Cooper.

The ARU are expected to announce at a press conference at 1pm that Cooper has rejected a bid from NRL club Parramatta and will stay in rugby.
The Queensland attacking whiz has been the subject of a fierce cross-code bidding war, following the Eels' offer of $500,000 per season to play league.

But Cooper has opted to stay in rugby to compete in the World Cup with the Wallabies next year on a contract offer that could see him earn up to $600,000 per season.

Cooper and James O'Connor will be blogging live on the Daily Telegraph website from 2.30pm. Don't forget to log on and throw the star Wallabies a question.

Wallabies five-eighth Quade Cooper has knocked back a lucrative offer from Parramatta to stay in rugby union - but only until next year's World Cup.
The Australian Rugby Union is scheduled to hold a press conference at 1pm at ANZ Stadium to announce the retention of Cooper on an upgraded one-year contract.
However, the Super 14s player of the year will again contemplate a switch of codes after the 2011 Rugby World Cup and the Eels are likely to come calling.
With no topline halves off contract in the NRL next season, Parramatta officials have expressed an interest in former Manly captain Matt Orford but he could be a stopgap measure until Cooper again becomes available.
Europe may also become an option for Cooper, who knocked back a $1 million offer to play in France next season.

Yeah - the whole QC thing is certainly not over...

I'd be willing to bet money his name is strongly linked to the Eels again for 2012...

I'd also be willing to bet that if we don't end up with Orford, it's because we don't want to pay him much (if anything) in 2012...

Quade can see how 'Amazing' the Rugby World Cup is (via a Quarter finals exit in a ho-hum event) and then think once again about making the switch.

It will be very interesting to see how much more money the NRL gets from its new TV deal - we may see more $1million contracts once sponsorship and cap exemptions are added on.

it's all Steph Rice's fault, bitch! all she had to do was keep her mouth shut and she wouldn't have lost the Jag.

no wonder he didn't sign. he has to drive her to swimming training for the next year.
