I would say it will start 8:00 cause of the way Ch 9 drags it out with all their build up.

Manly will be very very hungry and up for the game, we have to want it more like we did when we last played them. Beware a so called wounded Manly! That's when they play their best and keep finding something.

Would love to see Johnston and Walker given a free reign to go looking for the ball in field. Walker killed the Warriors in that game when he played fullback in the second half, and Johnston's speed would be better used if he follwed Luke and Burgess around the ruck

It's finals and we all know Manly are a different side this time of the year but I'd like to think we're a different side this year as well. The lessons learned over the past two seasons come to the fore with the first semi. We will go into the game as slight favourites. We need to muscle up and show same grit and determination as we showed in the back half of the Roosters game.
Reynolds back, Sutton to the bench maybe or starting, depends on Lowe's injury I guess.
The name of the game is who can handle the pressure and maintain it - Balin/Buehrer are big losses for Manly around the middle there.
Don't know who will be the refs - it will be interesting to see who they pick.
Expecting a win as I believe we have definitely improved our mental side of the game since last year. Let's hope I'm right!

Manly Sea Eagles fans outraged with ‘home’ final against South Sydney Rabbitohs deep in Bunnies’ territory

 • by: Dean Ritchie
 • From: The Daily Telegraph
 • September 08, 2014 12:00AM

THIS will be the great red and green Bunny heist.

Manly’s “home” semi-final on Friday night is certain to be hijacked by rabid Rabbitohs fans because it will be played in the heart of South Sydney territory at Allianz Stadium.
Souths fans could outnumber Sea Eagles supporters by two to one, if not more.
Manly (second) finished above Souths (third) on the competition table, but the semi-final will be played just 2.8km from Redfern — which is hardly a reward for Manly.
And Sea Eagles fans are threatening to boycott the semi-final, claiming the game should have been played at Brookvale Oval.
NRL officials discussed taking the game to ANZ Stadium, but decided to play it at Allianz.
Manly fans are notorious for not travelling to away games, so Souths’ army of supporters are expected to make all the noise among a possible 40,000 fans.
Sea Eagles crowds for semi-finals at Allianz Stadium have been poor in recent years.
In 2011, they attracted just 13,972 for a semi-final against North Queensland.
And just 16,678 attended another finals game against the Cowboys in 2012.
Lifelong Manly fan Gavin Little won’t be attending.
“It is ridiculous that the Sea Eagles have earned themselves a ‘home’ semi-final at Allianz,” Littlesaid.
“Manly have played 10 games at Brookvale this season, winning nine and going down to the Storm in round one by a point.
“This is exactly the reason a side strives for a home semi. Obviously the NRL is striving for the demise of the suburban ground, or has it just become about television ratings rather than the fans and players.“I will not be attending the semi at Allianz, not only as a protest, but because of the notorious hassles getting to and from games there.
“Sea Eagles fans love our Brookie and we deserve our semi-final to be played at our home ground, as do the players.
“The home-ground advantage, it seems, will be with Souths, with the majority of their fans residing much closer to Allianz.”
Another Manly supporter, Penny Astley, hopes fans do cross the Harbour Bridge.
“The side deserves to have plenty of support given the season they have enjoyed and I know Souths fans will be there in big numbers,” she said.
Even Souths co-owner Russell Crowe said Allianz was in Rabbitohs territory.
He said last week before his side’s game against the Roosters: “It’ll all be on for young and old and I’ll be at the game with the South Sydney faithful at an away match for us, but deep in Souths’ traditional home territory (Moore Park), wishing and cheering for nothing other than a Souths victory.”
Manly lost 30-16 to North Queensland on Saturday night to surrender their chance to claim the minor premiership.

Sutton Helps Light Up NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series

Mon 8th September, 01:00PM
A A

The 2014 NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series kicked off in spectacular style today with Rabbitohs Captain John Sutton joining other the stars of the NRL coming together to “Light It Up”.

Sutton, helped kick-off the Finals Series with Anthony Minichiello, Jamie Lyon, Jamie Soward, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Michael Ennis and Corey Parker, attending today’s event fresh from one of the most enthralling final rounds in the games 106-year history.
Sutton told Rabbitohs.com.au at the event that his team were ready to play in an arena they’ve been preparing all season to be part of.
“We’ve prepared all season to play in the finals,” said the Rabbitohs skipper.
“Now it’s here. We’ve got Manly this week and I’m sure we’ll be going through all the processes that need to be done and preparing well and putting in a big performance.”
Despite this Friday night’s match against the Sea Eagles being billed as a Manly-Warringah home-game, the battle will take place just a short walk from Redfern – a fact that Sutton believes will draw even more Rabbitohs Members and supporters than last week’s clash against the Roosters.
“I think we had more fans out here for the game against the Roosters than the Roosters did,” said Sutton.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of Souths fans out there and I can’t wait for them to be cheering us on.”

NRL Chief Executive Officer Dave Smith praised the efforts of the eight teams that have qualified for the finals, while encouraging members and fans of all teams to light up for the finals.

“The season reached a thrilling climax over the weekend and judging by the match-ups for Week 1, the stage is set for that level of excitement to continue,” Mr Smith said.

“There are four big games in three cities this weekend ensuring members and fans across the eastern seaboard have the opportunity to experience a game live.

“I would like to thank players for their attendance today and wish every team and their supporters good luck for the Finals Series.”

Today’s event marked the unveiling of a new advertising campaign for the Final Series featuring an anthem by US pop sensation Fall Out Boy.

Titled “Light It Up”, the campaign will feature a series of 30 second television commercials, digital, press, radio and outdoor advertising encouraging fans to get out to a Final Series match and “Light It Up” for their team.

The campaign will be complemented by a free “Light It Up” App, giving fans access to Final Series creative assets and exclusive content according to which team they support in the Finals.

There will also be a range of new ticket offers and promotions aimed at enhancing fan experience while providing greater value for money.

Supporter Bays at all grounds will feature a limited amount of “Hot Seats” which include supporter gear including a wig and clapper stick with any ticket purchase.

The Hot Seats will also include flags and banners so fans can engage and become part of the action like never before.

Rabbitohs skipper John Sutton ready to take orders from rising stars Adam Reynolds and Luke Keary

 • by: Paul Crawley
 • From: The Daily Telegraph
 • September 09, 2014 12:00AM

JOHN Sutton says he will have no problem “taking orders from the young boys” Adam Reynolds and Luke Keary if the Rabbitohs skipper is forced into the back row for Friday night’s opening finals clash against Manly.

Michael Maguire faces one of the toughest selection decisions of his coaching career when he announces his team.
Adam Reynolds’ return from suspension is causing a headache over who to play at five-eighth.
Sutton played in the No. 6 jumper alongside young gun halfback Luke Keary when he returned from a knee injury in last week’s final-round loss to the Roosters.
In Sutton’s absence, Keary was exceptional and the spark he provides has brought a new dimension to Souths’ attack.
But Sutton has been one of the Rabbitohs’ most consistent performers in recent seasons and his leadership in big games has been crucial.
Earlier this year, Sutton conceded that he and Maguire had decided his best spot for the team was at five-eighth after he returned from a stint in the forwards. But that was before Keary became a regular starter in Sutton’s absence.
Keary would also be a weapon off the bench but Maguire hinted last week that Sutton was a proven edge-ball runner and that role now looks the most likely option.
Sutton admits it would be tough for Maguire to split the Reynolds/Keary combination.
“Luke has come in and done a great job. Adam has been playing well,” Sutton said.
“I am just going to play wherever Madge puts me. Whether it be five-eighth or in the back row, I am not sure.
“I was a bit rusty with my kicking game (against the Roosters) and pretty disappointed with the way I played, my first half especially.”
Asked if he would have to suppress the urge to take command if he plays in the forwards, he said: “Maybe a little bit. But I am just going to do what is best for the team.
“If that is playing in the back row and getting orders from the young boys, then that is what I will do.
“If play in the back row I will probably let the halves take over a bit more. But if I see opportunities, of course I will be calling the ball and playing what I see in front of me.”
Despite losing to the Roosters, the Rabbitohs took plenty of confidence from how they fought back to almost steal victory after having a player sin-binned.
But perhaps their best win of the year was the 23-4 victory over Manly in round 22 and on that night Reynolds and Keary were exceptional.
The Rabbitohs will also be hoping Sam Burgess is back to full fitness this week after playing through obvious pain last week against the Roosters.
Sutton described Burgess as the “toughest bloke mentally and physically that I have played with”.
“If you see him in the change rooms at half-time and after the games he looks that busted but he always gets up,” Sutton said.“He is one mentally tough person.
“He puts his body through a lot and wears his heart on his sleeve every single game and never gives a bad performance.
“It would be great for him to leave this competition on a high note.”

Rd 21: Rabbitohs v Knights (Hls)

Highlights of the match between the Rabbitohs & Knights

Best laid plans...

Recognising that he was too exciting a talent to spend another year with North Sydney in the NSW Cup competition, South Sydney coach Michael Maguire hatched a plan over the off-season to partner Luke Keary with Adam Reynolds in the halves and shift John Sutton into the forward pack. Months of training went out the window in an instant when Keary tore his pectoral muscle on day two of the Auckland Nines, halting the evolution of Maguire's men if only temporarily. Rather than going back to Sutton, however, Maguire promoted Dylan Walker to a more prominent role at five-eighth to start the season before going back to his captain in Round 5 after his side had dropped three on the trot.

Say it ain't so, Sam

Having earned a special place in the hearts of South Sydney supporters with his whole-hearted displays since joining the club in 2010, Sam Burgess sent shockwaves from the centre of Redfern to the northern hemisphere when he announced in February that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. When the 2014 campaign comes to a close Burgess will return to England to play rugby union with Bath but ever since the announcement he has embodied an athlete intent on going out on the best possible note. The socialising has been cut back and the media commitments restricted in order to give the greatest possible shove to South Sydney's premiership push, with many pundits predicting a Dally M award to go with it.

GI goes berserk and maintains the rage

Having exited the 2013 Finals Series in such disappointing fashion and with an injured Greg Inglis below his best, South Sydney's superstar fullback made an emphatic statement in the very first game of the season. Down 6-0 to arch rivals the Roosters after just 12 minutes, Inglis hit back when he simply barged through three Roosters defenders to score his first try of 2014 and then he doubled his tally early in the second half, cutting back on the angle from a Ben Te'o offload. He went back to the power game for his third of the night in Souths' 28-8 win but none of those compared with what was to come in later rounds.

Fond memories at old stomping ground

Having disposed of the defending premiers in such commanding fashion in Round 1, the Rabbitohs looked decidedly vulnerable when they returned to the Sydney Cricket Ground for Heritage Round against the Dragons in Round 5. In the three weeks prior they had suffered defeats at the hands of the Sea Eagles, Wests Tigers and Raiders and had only the Knights and Sharks below them on the ladder. But back on the great old dame of Australian sport the Bunnies reverted to the power game that had served them so well and dominated territory and possession in their 26-6 win, the Dragons' only try coming in the final seven minutes of the game. It wasn't the Rabbitohs' best win of the season but by gee it was an important one.

Wrestling with a bad rap

Five charges by the match review committee in the space of two weeks for indiscretions associated with the wrestling manoeuvres now prevalent in the game caused some to question whether the Rabbitohs were taking their quest for ruck control to dangerous extremes. Ben Te'o was outed for four games for a 'chicken-wing' tackle on Sam Thaiday in Round 23 while George Burgess, Chris McQueen, Kirisome Auva'a and Issac Luke all ended up on the rap sheet late in the season. Although Thaiday was quick to defend his Queensland Origin teammate and admitted that every team was using similar tactics, it brought unwanted attention to the Rabbitohs as they continued to firm in premiership betting.

Walker's on all right

The Queenslanders might have cause to reprise Nathan Brown's famous "Walker's on" cries of Origin games past if Dylan Walker's ascension in the NRL continues on its heady path. Showing no signs of any second-year syndrome, Walker looked dangerous in his cameo at five-eighth to start the season but a whole lot more comfortable once he returned to the centres. He tore the Titans to shreds in Round 9 with a four-try display and scored two tries and ran for 207 metres against the Warriors before suffering a thumb injury. He has developed a lethal combination with winger Alex Johnston and has had good judges in raptures about his Origin prospects for the future.

Alex the line-finding wonder winger

The story has been told on almost as many occasions as he has scored first grade tries but it is worth repeating here for posterity: Alex Johnston once played a young Greg Inglis in an NRL commercial; now he emulates him by scoring bucket-loads of four-pointers. A 19-year-old rookie when handed his first grade debut in Round 8, Johnston crossed for five tries in his opening three games and has maintained that strike-rate all the way through to the finals. He scored eight tries in the space of four games from Round 19-22 and has accumulated a total of 17 tries in 15 NRL games in 2014 to come right into Rookie of the Year reckoning. A beautifully elegant speedster, Johnston's preferred position is actually fullback, but there is a man with whom he is very familiar currently standing in his way.

Sutton, Merritt reach magic milestones

They've had little chance to add to their records in the time since but two players who will go down as South Sydney legends notched impressive milestones during the season. Captain John Sutton was the first to record a significant individual milestone when he overtook Bob McCarthy to become the most capped Rabbitoh in the club's proud history – fittingly at the SCG in Round 5. A week later Nathan Merritt became the club's greatest ever try-scorer when he went past Benny Wearing's mark of 144 tries in Round 6 against the Panthers. He was dropped two weeks later before earning a recall during the Origin period but hasn't been sighted in the top grade since Round 17.

Try, try again

They can't say they didn't know it was coming. In Round 8 Broncos defenders were scattered like hapless minions when Greg Inglis scorched his way on an 89-metre run to the tryline in what seemed a lock for try of the season, and then he did it again. The first breathtaking try was a solo effort where Inglis beat Parker, Hunt, McCullough, Kennedy, Copley and Maranta to absolutely light up Suncorp Stadium and he was at it again when the two sides met at ANZ Stadium in Round 23. Adam Reynolds took the ball just his side of halfway and put in a perfectly-weighted chip for a flying Inglis to collect on the Broncos' 30m line. A split second later he crashed into Josh Hoffman, left Ben Hunt and Matt Gillett sprawled on the turf, kept his feet and his balance to send a pass to Sam Burgess and then when the big Englishman powered to within five metres of the line and flung the ball out in hope, it was Inglis wrapping around to charge onto the ball, score untouched and move straight into his goanna try celebration, fittingly in Close the Gap Round. You pick your favourite, we simply can't split them.

Reynolds, Keary unlock new combination

He got a taste of life as the Rabbitohs five-eighth in Round 17 but it wasn't until Round 21 – five months after their partnership was due to begin – that Luke Keary joined Adam Reynolds in the South Sydney halves. The impact was immediate – a 50-10 thrashing of the Knights – and soon commentators were wondering how John Sutton would force his way back into the team upon his return from injury. In the space of five weeks he contributed four line-break assists and three try assists as the Bunnies knocked over the Knights, Sea Eagles, Broncos and Bulldogs, his speed on the left edge benefiting both Greg Inglis and Chris McQueen. Adam Reynolds has responded well to being the senior partner also with his kicking game and decision making integral to South Sydney's strong finish. Both men are brave in defence and look set for a long and fruitful partnership.

Knights to the sword

After watching the Rabbitohs post 10 tries on his side in the northern clime in Cairns, Knights coach Wayne Bennett lit a media fuse when he suggested that South Sydney were a predictable footy team. While there is no question that Souths have worked to a set structure for much of Michael Maguire's reign the carefree nature of their 50-10 win over Newcastle highlighted the flair flowing throughout the three-quarter line. Walker, Auva'a and Johnston all produced breathtaking pieces of play while Inglis and McQueen seemed to revel in the exuberance around them.

Pass mark for big tests

The Rabbitohs' final five games of the regular season were against teams who would all eventually finish in the top eight but despite a record of 3-2 over that period there were just as many questions as answers. Utterly dominant displays against the Sea Eagles and Broncos had Rabbitohs fans booking their Grand Final accommodation but the Cowboys took complete control of their Round 24 clash in Sydney to register their second win over South Sydney for the season. The Bulldogs made them fight until the final minutes before recording a 21-14 victory and then with the minor premiership still on the table the Roosters raced to a 22-2 lead before a late resurgence got the Rabbitohs within four. It's yet to be seen whether the Bunnies truly believe they have what it takes to win the big games.

No doubt Ol' Hollywood will look to become the center of attention. I really hope he stays out of the game and lets things flow. The NRL finals are the show piece of rugby league football in Australia and are more important that origin and given the nature of the Australian sporting landscape at the moment, the NRL cannot afford to have this finals series ruined by the referees. I really hope it doesn't happen but as far as I'm concerned the writings on the wall; we will more than likely be talking about the referees and their incompetence instead of the football.

I still remember when he fell for that Oscar-winning performance from Orford at Brookvale. That was in Week 1 too.

Rd 22: Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles (Hls)

Highlights of the match between the Rabbitohs & Sea Eagles

Qualifying Final 2
Sea Eagles v Rabbitohs
Allianz Stadium
Friday, 7.55 pm

John Paul Young can hit the bricks. We couldn't give a flying 4-iron if love really is in the air. It's officially September, which means there's one thing and one thing only worth sniffing the breeze for: finals football.

And haven't the rugby league gods smiled upon the humble huddled masses, delivering an intriguing battle between two outfits that in our best hopped-up WWE announcer: 'just plain don't like each other'.

The storied 60-odd-year rivalry covers off on everything from John Sattler's busted jaw to the luring of names like O'Neill, Branighan, Carroll and Roberts out of The Burrow and across to the Peninsular; and is made juicer than mother's Sunday roast by their last semi-final clash 11 months prior.

Oh ho yes, don't think for a second either side will have forgotten the Rabbitohs being over-run from 14-0 up after half an hour in last year's grand final qualifier, and eventually lapped 30-14 by a Sea Eagles unit trained in the ruthless art of big-game football. And you can bet your grandmother's last dollar there will be a not-so-subtle reminder from the Manly boys when the first scrum packs down come Friday night.

What makes this one all the more tasty for connoisseurs of rugby league fare is these two superpowers are colliding at least a smidge short of the height of their powers. Six weeks ago when they did the dance at the SCG, when Souths knocked Manly off to pinch their premiership favouritism, it was a different story.

But since then the Sea Eagles have somewhat limped into the semis with a 2-2 record, the glare from that magnifying glass on the club's contract dramas intensified, and a forward pack that looks like it has been hit by a bus.

Down their two most underrated cogs in Jamie Buhrer and Matt Ballin, while a third – Brenton Lawrence – is struggling with a knee injury and a fourth – Anthony Watmough – has been the subject of intense media speculation over his future, the Manly engine room is quite simply under the pump.

This is of course the cue for the Bunnies' big men, collectively some of the biggest we've seen on Dally Messenger's green earth, to pile right on in, and potentially right over the top of their foes from the Northern Beaches.

Not that it's been a day on the lake for Souths since that Round 22 showdown. The usual questions are coming thick and fast down Redfern way after a scrappy seven-point win over Canterbury was sandwiched between two losses to the Cowboys and the Roosters.

Do the Rabbitohs, and Adam Reynolds in particular, possess the cojones to land a killer blow when it counts? What in the name of Mario Fenech do you do with messrs Sutton, Reynolds and Keary and that tricky scrum base pairing? And is employing a bloke with a black belt in Jiu jitsu really necessary?

Reynolds is back in the No. 7 jumper, pushing big John Sutton in amongst the piggies and answering the second of those queries for the moment, while Manly have also named Lawrence and key man Brett Stewart despite both being under injury clouds.

Manly are running free buses from the Beaches prior to the game to recreate their 'Brookvale fortress' right in the heart of Bunnies territory; the winner will find themselves just 80 minutes away from the NRL's big ball on the first weekend of October and there's more individual match-ups across the park than you can poke a thousand burnt sticks at; all of which adds up to one hell of an opening to the 2014 finals series. In the words of the great Dazza Eastlake: It's gonna be huge!

Watch Out Sea Eagles: Jorge Taufua came in for some special attention from the boot of Robert Lui last weekend and no doubt Reynolds, he of the ability to hoof the Steeden onto a pin, will have taken note. Opposite number Lote Tuqiri stands a full seven centimetres taller than Manly's nuggety flankman, and given the way Kyle Feldt flew over the top of Taufua in Townsville, Reynolds will have the bombs raining down and the air raid siren sounding all night. Inside man Steve Matai will also have his status as one of the game's best defensive centres thoroughly tested by Dylan Walker and that serious set of wheels he gets around on, meaning Taufua should also have a few of those split-second, clutch defensive decisions to make as well.

Watch Out Rabbitohs: Manly are in that familiar position they've handled better than any team in the modern era; backed into a corner surrounded by ninjas wielding throwing stars, nun chucks and a bazooka or two. At least that's what we imagine it feels like up Narrabeen way, and the spotlight that's been trained on Manly for the past few months should have the Bunnies' ears well and truly pricked. Back in Round 2, with a tonne of front-row experience having walked out the door, Manly fronted up to the star-studded Rabbitohs pack told they had a popsicle's chance in hell of shifting the brothers Burgess and their muscle-bound mates.
Veteran prop Jason King busts out the fire, then some brimstone, sticks it right to the Souths big men and finds himself right up under their skin to pilot the Sea Eagles to a famed 14-12 win for the maroon and whites. Given the circumstances the Manly pack finds itself in at present, King and trusty offsiders Lawrence and Josh Starling – both gifted with more than the average share of bottle – will be all too happy to oblige with an encore performance on the finals stage.

Plays To Watch: Rabbits winger Alex Johnston to come foraging around the middle a la his 70th-minute try against the Chooks should opportunities dry up out wide; Manly duo Stewart and Kieran Foran to dig deep into their bag of tricks with those rapid-fire inside-outside plays close to the Rabbitohs' line; Sam Burgess to stick to Keary's right shoulder like glue and hit the line hard off a short ball at the other end of the pitch; and Sea Eagles skipper Jamie Lyon to fancy his chances one on one with Souths youngster Kirisome Auva'a in the biggest game of the 22-year-old's 18-game career.

Where It Will Be Won: As boring as it sounds in a game featuring names like Inglis, Cherry-Evans, Stewart, the Burgi and a veritable host of match winners, holding onto that oval shaped rubber thingy wins football games. Doubly so when it comes to football games played during finals. And it's here where Manly have to come to the table. Over the course of scrappy wins over the Panthers and Titans, and those losses to North Queensland and Parramatta, the Sea Eagles have turned in at least one half of football where they completed their sets at less than 70 per cent, with those second-half efforts against the Eels and Titans clocking in at 61 and 59 respectively. Give away that much ball to this South Sydney side, and you're in for a long night compadres.

The History: Played 133; Sea Eagles 73; Rabbitohs 60. Manly hold the upper hand in recent times, a 6-4 advantages from their past 10 meetings with the cardinal and myrtle. Both possess handy records on the Allianz turf, the Bunnies are four from their past five while the Sea Eagles have travelled back over the Spit bridge victorious seven times in their last nine visits to the joint.

What Are The Odds: Sportsbet punters are wagering 50 per cent more money on the Rabbitohs head to head but it’s margin betting where things get really interesting. There is almost four times the money on South Sydney, giving away 6.5 points start. Despite that, 1-12 to the Bunnies is the most popular margin. Latest odds at Sportsbet.com.au.

Match Officials: Referees – Shayne Hayne & Gavin Badger; Touch Judges – Russell Turner, Dave Munro & Grant Atkins; Video Referees – Bernard Sutton & Luke Patten.

Televised: Channel Nine – Live from 7.30pm.

How We See It: Given Manly's love of a scrap and the doubts still surrounding the Rabbitohs when the NRL kitchen starts heating up, this could go either way. Souths hold the advantage up front while the maroon and whites shade them in the halves and out the back, but this one will probably come down to whichever star shines

Rabbits Keen for Manly Test - Maguire

Words: Tom Skolarikis I Video: Chris Beavon
Wed 10th September, 10:39AM A A

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, says his team is looking forward to this Friday night’s Telstra Premiership Finals Series opener against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Allianz Stadium.
Season 2014 will see the Rabbitohs take part in their third successive Finals Series. But while the Souths mentor admits that his team has gained valuable experience from those prior appearances, it’s all about Friday night and building on the performances of this season.
“We’re really looking forward to Friday’s game,” said Maguire.
“We’ve built all year and we’ve probably got six or seven new players in our team approaching this time of year and it adds a different dimension to us.
“The experience that we’ve had this year – it just gives us a great opportunity now with these young kids coming in and with our senior players developing the way they have, it is confidence.”
Young guns such as Alex Johnston, Kyle Turner, Kirisome Auva’a will get their first taste of Finals footy this Friday night as part of Maguire’s side.
Asked whether he thought the Sea Eagles would be under-strength owing to injury, Maguire dismissed the notion, citing the closeness of the 2014 Premiership.
“We don’t look into any of that,” said Maguire.
“Every team turning up at this time of year has got certain things going on internally and externally – at the end of the day it’s how about what we’re doing and we’re very focussed about playing the way we can.”

Come on Souths. Need to play well for the whole 80. Can't afford getting off to a slow start like we have been. Manly will be ready to go from the opening whistle with great energy.
