Am conflicted about this game. Want Italy to win because they're clearly superior to the Poms across the park and no way is England in the top 4 teams in Europe. On the other hand, wouldn't mind the Poms winning so Germany could then put 6 past them in the semis.

Don't know about everybody else but I've thoroughly enjoyed this match so far. Best of the 4 quarter finals from a neutral point of view.

Wouldn't put Italy down at England's level. The Italians are quite clearly a level above the English. Just a mix of poor finishing and bad luck tonight has prevented them winning 2 or 3 to nil.

If Italy get through and can get their finishing and final pass options right they will cause Germany a lot of headaches.

Only one team turned up to play today, and it would have been embarrassing had the result gone any other way.

The thing is, this Italian side is not a great one, it's a good one but not great. IMO England actually have a couple of players who could really trouble the Italian defense (Walcott and Ox-Chamberlain) and to a lesser extent Young, but they aren't even interested in playing football.

Only one team turned up to play today, and it would have been embarrassing had the result gone any other way.

The thing is, this Italian side is not a great one, it's a good one but not great. IMO England actually have a couple of players who could really trouble the Italian defense (Walcott and Ox-Chamberlain) and to a lesser extent Young, but they aren't even interested in playing football.

Young had a woeful tournament.

They have a bit of promise with Ox and Walcott, as well as Wilshere when fit, but got to be some concern that a slightly passed his best Gerrard was the best player they had all tournament (not as good this game though, but im amazed he strung four games together after his past two years).

John Terry had a great game again. Proved why he is a world class defender despite all the baggage.

Terry's scrambling defense was good but had it not been for Balotelli's lax finishing he would have been caught out more than a few times.

He was OK, certainly not great IMO.

Both teams were not garbage. England were garbage but Italy completely outlcassed us. When they weren't getting in a few decent long range shots, the likes of Pirlo and Montolivo were cutting us to shreds playing beautiful balls for Cassano and Balotelli to get in behind us.

They played football. Good, creative football. We defended and struggled to put 5 passes together. One good team, one woeful team. Thankfully the good team progressed...
