Considering this is the only home game I get to go to this season I can't say I have a lot of hope. Of all the poor games we've had, it will be rather fitting for us to get whooped by 50 before my very eyes. I just know Roberts and Gidley are going to rape my innocent eyes with the greatest derp filled performance of their careers.

I want to be optimistic, I've been far more than most here, but considering the single change and Stone's desire to stand by Roberts even though he's already played his one stand out game for the year (Roosters last year, Semi 2013), it's hard to be excited.

You don't have to support blatant stupidity though and that is what we are served up every week. Please explain to me or us why we should continue to put up with Tyrone Roberts, A NSW Cup quality halfback, every week and his utter ineptitude? Tapine gets dropped for no reason at all other than Stone is an amatuer posing as professional. He is a Qld cup level coach and he should have stayed there. Hagan brought Stone to Newcastle. Hagan and Gidley gave him the job last year despite IMO far better candidates putting their hands up. To think we overlooked Maguire in 2009 for him about says it all. The whole Bennett does not get Newcastle thing is bullshit. Newcastle didn't get what success requires. To quote Brock Lesnar's infamous mantra "eat, sleep, conquer, repeat." It is about the application. Not necessarily the result but more the damage and message you leave behind. Once upon a time The Newcastle Knights was all about application. I clear as day Remember the days when we would lose but send teams home in a sometimes literal pile of piss and vomit from pain vowing never to return. We used to terrify other sides.

It's a shame Mullen isn't fit, we would've seen whether Stone was prepared to keep Gagai at fullback and drop Roberts. As it is even though I did want him dropped I don't know whether it's the right time to do it with no Mullen and the other half being Gidley.

Fa'alogo is plodderrific these days but I'm not that concerned about him starting and Korbin off the bench, at least we'll have one good prop on the field most of the time.

Although the 23-year-old has attracted some scrutiny of late, Stone is committed to supporting Roberts in the pivotal role.

“I think Tyrone did some good things in the game. I think we are seeing small improvements from Tyrone from week-to-week,” he said.

“I know he carries a fair bit of responsibility and sometimes the blame, which is not totally accurate.

“As a halfback he has to take some responsibility and he has to understand that. He understands he needs to get better and more consistent.
