DEUTSCHLAND OHHHHHHHHHH DEUTSCHLAND DAS WAS SUPER!!

fair dinkum tho, teddy lucic being yellow carded for that grab on klose makes graham polls decision even more horrific

wheres the german detractors now? all those critics in the press are eating their hats, PODOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSKI - so glad he @ bayern next year, gonna turn the champions league on, 38 degree heat did blunt german attack tho not swedes being fired up, sweden look as fired up as a bushfire in norway

The Germans could knock Argentina out on this form. Argentina are a technically better side but never underestimate the value of home support in a World Cup. Worked for France in '98, worked for West Germany in 74 and Argentina in 78 among others.

poor decision by lagerback to have lucic man mark klose. The second goal was basically because of that.

Isaakson trying his best but sweden look no hope at the moment.

Poldolski seems to be getting a lot of ball

does the rest of the German team have money on him to get a hat trick in this match??

hehe i see your comment is light hearted but i think the german players are rallying behind podolski, the german press is really hammering him over there, so i think they giving him more ball to build up confidence

It certainly sets up a cracking quarter final should Argentina do the job against Mexico which is expected.

Whislt it's a tad soft mate, he had to go.

As soon as you grab a player when they are making a fast break, it's a yellow card. Lucic only has himself to blame. 2 silly fouls, both bookable. The first he was well and truly late in the tackle and got the man, then the ref had no choice when he dragged Klose back.

A lot of the time a team goes down to 10 men they can be harder to break down because the whole team seems to lift. The problem for Sweden is that they need 2 goal in this game now and that will leave them exposed at some stage.

Germany getting into plenty of dangerous areas as it is. Under Klinnsmann they aren't a side to sit on a lead either so would expect another goal or 2 in this.

in all honesty, argentina arent convincing to me, 6-0 pumping of the serbs aside, theyve only had patches, germans on the other hand are pumping it up getting better n better

na na macca im not disuputing it, lucic had to go no doubt, just making stupid comparisons on how pathetic the graham poll decision was cos simunic rugby league tackled dukes but lucic grabbed

Missed penalty by Larrson.

Some of the blame here needs to go to the coach. Why was he making a sub while Larrson was waiting to take the penalty? As if the pressure wasn't enough, with the side 2-0 down with 10 men.

Crazy stuff from the coach. Poor penalty from Larrson.

One of the worst ever. Sailed a mile over the goal. Lehmann didnt even move.

Peppering the poor Swedish keeper. Its a credit to him that the score isnt 5-0 by now

I'd be the 1st to admit not following the teams closly but was it expected that Lehmann would get the start in the gmaes ahea of Kahn??

Frings and Ballack have been sensational. Best centre midfield combination easily. Gerrard and Lampard should be watching this display closely. Unfortunately neither can play the holding role of Frings as effectively

But Podolwski will get MoM I bet

On the other hand why would it be expected that Kahn is a walk up start ahead of Lehmann?

On the back of a good couple of seasons at Highbury including 9 clean sheets (a record) in a row in the Champions League this season, Lehmann got the call up.

not really, but i give you an insight into the german politics of the kahn v lehmann debate

before jürgen klinsmann was appoited, sepp maier (one the greatest goalies of all time) was goalkeeping coach - a former bayer münchen great and still affiliated with the club, he had obvious preferences to oliver kahn, not saying kahn didnt deserve to be there, but it has a special bavarian flavour and he was great no doubt but basically lehmann would never get a gig and germany was split 51-49% on 2 way between the goalkeepers, when klinsmann came in, he sacked all those in favour of certain players, brought in oliver bierhoff and i think andreas köpke as goalkeeping coach and has basicaly favoured lehmann from the word go, to outsiders, no he wasnt expected to start ahead of kahn, but in germany, 51% cant go wrong

theres alot of bavaria favourtism (think broncos players in wayne bennet coached rep teams) and being bayern supporter it makes me cringe to acknowledge but its true, certain players werent favourites under certain bavarian run national teams if you get my drift

lehmann looked like a kalac a couple of times in that first half.

was funny to see the shots of the german bench, were everyone is all happy and smiles, while ollie is sitting there like a grumpy bugger.
