I think the preparation needs more scruitiny. Instagram posts of the boys at timezone is fun and all but we played like a team that had been lounging on the beach all week.

I wasn't up there but sounds like a fair bit of goofing off happened.

That's a terrific point. The team hasn't earned the right to have a bludge week.

We've undone our terrific start to the season. Our form the past 2 months has been terrible. Aside from the effort against Warriors when we had a bunch of reserve graders fighting for spots.

Clutching at straws much?

They went to Timezone. If anything it proved how close the group are which is a positive sign for the club.

If they were out together downing 10 beers the night before the game I could understand the outrage.

We just had 50 put on us. You think our lack of preparation for the game is a positive?

Someone's clutching at straws. But it isn't us.

The Origin period is behind us and we have our strongest roster available in months. Yet we played our worst game of the season. Now is not time for fun and games. It's time for hard work and trying to cement a top 4 spot.

Couldn’t have said it any better myself

Every team has a bad game during the season. Ours was really bad but the carry on about the team taking it easy on the Gold Coast is a bit far fetched. Were any of you there?

We got spanked last night but it is not the end of the world and certainly not the end of our season. I saw enough in the final 20 minutes to know that they are embarrassed and won't let that happen again.

This loss will be the blessing in disguise to get our campaign back on track.

The Manly loss should have been that

We've now lost 4 of our last 5. We are sliding badly.

I disagree. Yes, we have had a bad month and a bit. However, we have had major disruption with the origin period. We're now having to deal with what Melbourne, NQ and Brisbane have to deal with every year. Unfortunately it is a bi-product of having a good year.

We will stabilize now and bunker (bad word) down for the remainder of the season. Look at the adversary we've faced this year and look where we are on the table. The team has done a tremendous job considering.

They need us to all continue to turn up and cheer them on. Not get on here and turn on them. Granted, everyone is entitled to be frustrated and have their opinions. However, in my mind, this is the time were we all stand shoulder to shoulder and give them our support.

I am not turning on them I am just pissed off with the lack of effort in certain matches of the past month. We are throwing away a golden chance with the position the boys have got the team in with poor performances.
I understand the Origin period can be disruptive but I don't expect several floggings or losing to scum like Manly.

I will be there next home game cheering for the team and booing the shit out of the opposition.

Those clubs still demand success and are embarrassed by 50 point losses.

Who said there was a lack of preparation? You? Because they put up a 3 minute video at Timezone?

They went on a ‘mini camp’ wouldn’t that suggest (if anything) they prepared for longer time than normal being away from home?

I think people go looking for reasons outside of just playing terribly & the other team playing well. Our key players (1 in particular) were well below average, Brisbane were on fire & we didn’t get the rub the green. You play bad, another decent team plays very well & that’s the result. Despite a recent poor run of form, last night is nowhere near a reflection of how we’ve played the majority of the season.

I am a person who attempts to see the good in folks, and the good in situations. Hence my forum name.

Yep I would have loved a win last night. But guess what it didn't happen.

I don't expect others to think the way I do either.

I support a footy team, not just for the 'glory games' where every balls hits the right spot, every pass is a line break and every tackle is effective.

I'm also there for the days like last night, the times where nothing appeared to work too.

Here are some facts from last night. You're not going to win many footy games with 42% of the ball.

*The team made 6 linebreaks compared to 1 from the Broncos. (poor handling and the like involved I would say)

* 35 tackles breaks compared to 40

*40% kick diffusal compared to the Broncos 62% (new fullback 3rd choice)

* 12 errors to 6 too.

(stats NRL.com)

So until next weekend when we do the same again.
