Hopefully our kids step it up again. It only takes a single win to install some confidence and I think after toppling the Roosters plus the injuries that could come out of the Souths vs Raiders game, they might fancy their chances enough not to be intimidated.

Pressure on Reynolds and Keary, get Scott, Smith and Sims in the fact of their pack and we're a good chance.

I'll try and predict the team:

1. S. Mata'utia
2. Mamo
3. Leilua
4. Gagai
5. Uate
6. Gidley
7. Roberts
8. Snowden
9. Clydesdale
10. Mason
11. Scott
12. Rochow
13. Smith

14. Waddell
15. Sims
17. Fa'alogo
18. Cuthbertson

Souths may have a few injuries also, but they looked pretty sharp last night. Although the Raiders were pathetic so it's a bit hard to judge.

I'd be willing to put a lot of money on that being the side (save for maybe a Clydesdale/Waddell swap like last week).

I would persist with Chanel. Aku should rest until fully fit. Gidley at 6 is fine although I would like to see how Dane would go if given more time there. He compliments Tyrone's game by not getting in the way and keeping it simple. It worked last week. Why change. Just saying.

I thought Souths were average at best against what was, as you say a "pathetic" Raiders side. Had the Raiders managed to hold the ball in the first half when the scores were close and score would have been interesting to see how the game would have flowed.

Is Ricky Stewart is looking the goods to get a trifecta of 'Wooden Spoons"?

Think chanel will get the nod over mamo.

It's possible, but I doubt it unless Mamo is still carrying an injury. He got much more involved than Chanel on Friday night and they could use his enthusiasm again.

Mamo was selected over Chanel on Friday too so I doubt he'd lose his spot in the pecking order baring injury.

Chanel replacing aku was announced before mamo replacing Jimmy Mac I thought? But he was in Jersey 21, so maybe not.

chanel 20 runs 180m, mamo 15 runs 115m. chanel looked better imo before checking the stats. Mamo needs to hit the gym, lacks size.

chanel 20 runs 180m, mamo 15 runs 115m. Who was more involved.

Mamo was in the 19 so he would have been picked first. Frankly I doubt they ever expected McManus to play given he's not even back this week.

And stats don't say everything. Chanel was given the ball a lot. Gagai got it to him a lot and in the line Sione seems to like playing to that side. Everything Mamo was involved in he went in looking for. He was playing next to BJ who can't pass remember.

I'm not saying Chanel was poor by any stretch (he had a great debut) but I don't think Mamo did anything to deserve losing his place to him either. If it were up to me they'd both play over Aku this week but we know that won't happen.

Team named, same as last week, Gidley in for Mullen.

The Newcastle Knights has named a 17-man team for Sunday’s Round 21 match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Cairns.

Coach Wayne Bennett has made one forced change to his 17 who defeated the Sydney Roosters last week, with Jarrod Mullen sidelined due to an abdominal strain.

Captain Kurt Gidley returns from a groin injury to replace Mullen in the halves, alongside Tyrone Roberts.

Sione Mata’utia, Chanel Mata’utia and Jake Mamo are retained as the back three, while the four on the bench are unchanged.

^ Beaten !

I guess we aren't rushing Uate back in to the side.

Is there any reason why Mamo is not Fullback? He was the in form u20's player this season, has been the first picked as a backup to our regulars and was tipped to be our future fullback.. Now all of a sudden he is stuck on the wing when the opportunity is there for him to play fb.

I think Sione has been playing fullback since it became apparent that Boyd was leaving? I think we're grooming Sione for fullback, Mamo for wing.

Surely I'm not alone in wondering how the f**k Travis Waddell still gets a run each week? If Clydesdale isn't ready, surely Hilder would still be a better option at #9?

Not sure if Mamo would have been ready to play fullback this season. He's only new to the position this year. I know Sione is too but that kid just has freakish composure for his age. His try-saving tackles on the Roosters forwards when they ran at him on Friday were sensational for a rookie.

Mamo is a super talent too but I don't think he has the composure Sione does yet. It's not like he's done anything wrong, but you can tell how hard he's concentrating on playing well out there. Easing him in from the wing and getting him comfortable is best for him IMO. I'm sure if it becomes apparent Sione's best position is centre Mamo will be ready for fullback with time.
