Check mate!
I already said there were other terrible defenders in the team, but the difference is the others at the very least try to make tackles which Gagai doesn't. Wont put his body on the line. Will go for the low percentage intercept because he appears too scared to even try and tackle his opposite. When he actually does attempt to touch someone it's just arm grabbing which I'm sure he knows won't stop anyone. Again, not putting his body on the line. You mention guys like Roberts and Gidley but at least they try and make a proper tackle even if they come up short. That's the difference with Gagai.
As a unit we're making bad reads in defence at the moment but even in games in the past when we've defended well Dane has been the liability. Coaches target him because they know he won't even make a serious attempt at tackling.
Youre wrong like usual.
His biggest issue in defense is he's get stepped back on the inside too easily.
The majority of his miss tackles are are result of players having footwork brushing him aside.
He tackles ok when a player runs a straight line and he goes low.
Even from today's game JWH ran at him, he put his body on the line.
You missed his efforts on Woods during origin 3?
Go back watch some Knights game. He has always put his body on the line against some of the bigger blokes Taylor, T Rex, Hoffman

And what?
If you actually watch the footage, the biggest culprit in this try is Scott.
He's too slow to get across and slide mark up on Hastings leaving Randell in nowheres land, Dane and Uate jamming in.

lol are you seriously blaming Scott for that?
Stop, just stop
That Nathan Ross attempted catch then Gidley getting beaten by Evans is just vintage us. I did the dirty and took Roosters line at +17. At least that's a positive from this buttf**king.
Smith had Napa covered.
This is where Scott should be sliding forcing Randell, Dane and Uate to slide as well but instead Scott is caught up with Napa.
Now it's too late for Randell, Dane and Uate to slide as a result of Scott's laziness and poor read.
In one frame Scott actually just stands there.
And to show you how lazy Scott was on. if you look at the last frame, Smith actually beats him over to Tupou..
Randall clearly had RTS covered (in theory of course, not saying RTS couldn't beat Randall 1-on-1), it was Gagai's fault for the poor read.
Edit: Uate actually did well to rush up when Gagai did, but obviously his tackle attempt was terrible.
Dane Gagai is a woeful defender and if Wayne comes calling I strongly suggest we let him go. He is great in attack but we need to stop pretending he is a first grade quality defender. He is not. He is targeted. I wonder what the stats for tries down our right side are Compared to the left. 1qaz stop embarrassing yourself. You can give No Name the 1 grand now.
Yeah, showstopper, you better delete your account because you're hurting 1qaz's feelings! How dare you continually criticize Dane Gagai, who is clearly flawless and the best player in the history of all sport
