Beau 's form dropped off dramatically for St George when he signed with us. I remember some questioning the signing he was going so bad. Very similar to now. He'll be back to his best soon enough for Parra.

This, however doesn't hide the fact Gagai's contract should have a missed tackle clause to rake back some of the dollars from his inflated deal. If 1qaz is throwing around a $1000 on line break bets then Dane should be able to cough up $2500 per missed tackle.

My only issues with Gags is he is way overpaid and highlights why our club struggles when injuries hit. That is my only reason for wanting him out if Bennett comes calling again. His attack when on is brilliant and I hope Hodko is the missing link there. Big fan of Dane's as a player and person but I am not backing down on his horrendous defence being a major concern for us. I would much rather him hold his line on the outside and allow Beau to make the read error cos it tells me he has covered his opponent properly and is not going to come in on a guess. Maybe Akuila then will learn to stay wide as well. Wingers and Centres are not responsible for their fringe backrow defender messing things up. They are however responsible for jamming in on a three man hit and then allowing the ball to be passed thereby creating a try. You will seldom see the Roosters or Melbourne defend so recklessly.

Your bumchum in Sione would be a broke man.
Shithouse defense, 1 line break, 0 line break assist, 0 try assist.
The best junior for over a decade I keep reading from you.
No wonder the Knights are sitting last if he's your best junior you have produced for over 10 years.

Can you quote me where "I" said Sione was the best junior Newcastle has produced in 10 years? Just where have you been reading this from me?

I definitely wanted the club to keep him when his manager went to the Dogs. That was a no brainer at the time. Even you could have worked that out.

Fact is Dane has played over three times as many first grade games as Sione. I'll launch into Sione in mid 2018 when he's played as many games as Dane has now and if he is defending just as poorly as Dane is now.

It was not a no brainer. All 3 of them are being overpaid. I would've let all 3 go to the Dogs for the price they were asking.
From the games I seen Sione play in his under 20s, he never screamed superstar. Heck, I think Mamo has a lot more potential than him and he's getting peanuts compared to Sione.

It's easy to say that in hindsight. I don't think many people expected Gagai to stay and Sione had just played for Australia. BJ was being BJ also.

So If we'd lost them AND lost Gagai we'd have nobody in the centres.

So you couldn't find the quotes I asked you to post 1qaz. Apparently you keep reading my praise for 'the best junior Newy has produced in 10 years" over and over but can't find evidence of it????

Nice deflection away from cousin Dane (so you've claimed) but Sione is 2 and half years away from such criticism and you can't deflect the fact that Dane ' s defence is currently awful.

Now, you have written you haven't watched Newy games for years but some how you can comment on how average Sione was in the 20 ' s games you 'seen'. So, tell the truth, do you watch Newcastle games or not? And if the answer is yes, why did you lie about it???? Is Dane really a relative or have you lied about that as well???

Bit f**king strange bud.

While Sione continues to play first grade and getting paid a shitload he should cop the same criticism like any other first grader.
While Sione continues to be a shithouse defender and only making 1 line break a season, 0 try assist a season, 0 line break assist a season, he should hand back his superstar paycheck.

Not really. I would've let all 3 brothers go to the Bulldogs in exchange for Ennis and one of their outside backs.
You don't pick good money for outside backs unless they are a fullback.
The Knights seriously lacks a good number 9. That would've been my first priority. Levi off the bench for the next couple years with Ennis stating would've been ideal.

Funny. If we had a missed tackle clause built into contracts we wouldn't have to pay anyone a salary!

Our shit defence goes deeper than our centres...

You going to respond to the above 1qaz? Or have I 'smashed' you as you put it to a few others in here?

He definitely stayed for less - there wouldn't have even been a negotiation if we just gave him the same deal or better. How much less is up for speculation for sure. If we were smart we would have build in incentives so that he can earn up to $400k+ if he maintains his rep jerseys, etc... but I doubt we did that.

You're right. The most important job for an outside back in defence (and what they learn from the freaking u9s) is to stay on your opposite man. If Scott or Randall or whoever is inside of him mess up then they mess up. Gags is still supposed to stay on his man and at least try to make contact on him.

The first job for the new coach needs to be to tell him to stop f**king around and mark his opposite. He needs a coach that makes him acutely aware that he's expected to stay with his man and at least try and make a tackle on him. No more of this going for the miracle intercept bullshit or running out of the line and just watching blokes run past him . No more half-arsed arm grabbing tackles. He needs the coach to lay down what is expected so he has no choice but to try and do that. I think that will also simplify things for him in defence and actually make his job easier.

.

Errr if Dane stayed on Aitken. Dugan and Thompson had the whole paddock to themselves.
When a read was as bad as what Scott made, the right option was for the outside men to jam in.

Why don't we just ask Dane if he made a mistake or not? Dane's a pretty good and honest Dane... Dane wouldn't lie to us. He's too perfect, I mean with a name like Dane... who could stay angry long even if Dane made a mistake? Dane? DANE? Dane Dane Dane.
