I hope he enjoyed Reed's performance today. Quite possibly the worst ever game by a former eel against us.

I just watch the game. We are building nicely. Yes, yes plenty of work to do, but we are less shit every week. Our rookies are improving and our marquee players are finding their mojo.

Reedy needs to learn to STFU. He opened his gob during the week and was giving us lip early in the game. Loved it when Reg rolled him and then threw the ball down at him.

Gutherson did that after Mahoney carried on like a f**kwit when Gutherson was bundled out of touch.

Defensively we didn’t look bothered, as it should have been with the team the opposition dished out. Happy with that.

We left a handful of tries out there today. Points were pocketed and we are nowhere near our best. No need for panic stations. Our attack hasn’t been a worry. Holding the ball has.

I like Matto predominantly in the middle. Cartwright got turned inside out twice worryingly but it should be up to him and Doorey to own that right edge spot.

I don’t know why the Dogs right edge wasn’t targeted. Unsure if a fault of the staff, playmakers or a combination of both.

Haze is expectedly underdone. I’m looking forward to Simonsson’s return.

RCG has been head and shoulders our best player all season. One of our best signings of the NRL era.

We need Hodgson in the 17 and I won’t hear otherwise. I’m very happy with Hands’ progression (and the value he is adding was genuinely needed) but it will and should be in tandem. Stats don’t say everything; Hodgson leads line speed. He may get bumped at times, hence the less than desirable stats to his name. This said, I think he’s in the top half of hookers in defence despite being on the decline. Wiremu would have looked okay out of dummy half today.

They're less relevant in the middle because they are an accumulation stat. They are more likely to signify higher workrate than poor defence in the middle. Have a look at the missed tackles leaders every year. We are almost impossible to beat when we get close to a full-house at home. Other then the Tigers game last year.

I remain a big fan of Hopgood. He tries his guts out. Has to learn to temper it a tad. He also needs good guidance cause when he max's out his exhaustion level he falls off a cliff. From the stands his fatigue was obvious a good 5 mins b4 he was replaced for 9 minutes. He will get better and better.

Because my recall of games viewed also supports that Hands would have a better "most points scored for/least points scored against per minute on field" figure than our pensioner hooker does.

Sure but it's a dumb stat because tries scored/conceded lacks the granularity required to be a good indicator of anything. Events later in a game are set up by events occurring earlier in the game. For example, today we scored three tries in the seven minutes after minute 20 because we stayed patient and let them wear themselves out in that first 20 minutes. That set up the rest of the game where the Dogs again came out firing after halftime and we stayed patient. We scored all our points in the final 20 minutes of each half. It's no coincidence, and it had nothing to do with who was dummy half, because it was the same merkin the whole game.

And I'm not the one trying to claim that he should be back in the team playing more minutes than Hands...

He fell for Gus garbage spiel and the money. What can we do about it. He was the weak link of the spine and it showed today. And it showed during contract negotiations.

He never let us down or shirked a contest while he played for us.

In reality last year was the closest Mahoney will ever get to winning a comp. So I hope he invests wisely what the dogs are paying him. As Gus will flick him quicker the Brett Lee thunderbolts if reed doesn't get the dogs deep Into September in the next 2 years.
