I dont know what it is with Parra games but Vossy is so irritating, him and Roach, they seem to go on about the smallest thing like yesterday and disagree with the obvious thing, like when Moses was impeded Voss was certain it was a try. Mate read the bloody rule book, you cant take out a defender, simple as. Roach probably didnt have a clue. These guys need glasses.

Also Ennis is so over excited about certain teams, you would think Cleary's field goal was the best thing in the game, yet Gamble's field goal was a lot better. Ennis said nothing about it.

Its hard to listen to commentators nowadays, not like the old Ch 9 and Fox sports days.
100%. Voss crapped on about how unlucky the dogs were. He’s full of shit

Our leaders seem to "like" Mahoney but don't necessarily "respect" him.

Mahoney is a good hard working player. However is he a player you would want in the trenches with you; when a game is going down to the wire?
To be fair, he’s been made captain of his new club. He must have something going for him.

if we were to sign him in the last week of June, the cut of time allowed, he would only be entitled to a maximum of 4 months of this years contract.
He would be entitled to whatever we agreed to pay him. If the Dogs agreed to release him then he would be worth whatever other clubs were willing to pay. Before you accuse me of stating the obvious, you seem to have missed the fact that there would be a brand new negotiation between the player and whichever clubs wanted to sign him. This would be independent of whatever payout he agreed to with the Bulldogs. They don’t get to just sell his contract to some other club.

For anyone concerned about how badly we do when we play in Darwin and mentally fold due to heat and fatigue:

View attachment 72783

Total Games: 8
Win/Loss %: 6/2 75%
Total For: 148 (90 of those in the 2nd half)
Total Against: 129 (52 of those in the 2nd half)
I CANT f**kEN BELIEVE BRAD ARTHUR’S TOLD THE NRL WE WANTED TO PLAY THE COWBOYS UP THERE FFS! DUMBEST CLUB EVER!!!!

not sure about form side but to put in context, with a bit of luck Parra could have won games against Storm, Manly and Sharks and been top of the table as well
This is why points differential is a better indicator of quality than ladder position.

I guess we will never know.

But it wouldn't surprise with Gus being who he is that he could have sold him the dream and promised the captaincy if he signed.
Well I guess so, but even then, why promise so much to someone who isn’t worth it? That’s something they now can’t offer other players. Were they really that desperate?

Mahoney has plenty going for him. He is extremely hard working. Although Mahoney did display poor leadership on a number of occasions yesterday.

Leaders higher up the food chain probably thought he is surplus to requirements as a leader here at Parra. Which Is why he left - as more leadership is usually proportional to your income. We actually managed to get a better leader in the same position for less money.

At this stage on field success points to Parra being better at identifying and placing leaders than the Bulldogs are. So the decision for Mahoney to leave was probably the right one

Do you think if the Storm or Roosters recruited Mahoney that he would be made captain or part of their respective leadership groups?

The issue is a 5 day turnaround to make things worse and Brisbane getting an extrala day off.
If I was in charge I'd say to them we take a game to help spread the game in NT we want a 7 day turnaround.
Then call them a pack of ashols
We get the Knights the following week where we get an extra day recovery and Newcastle are in Townsville this week which is pretty similar to Darwin.

So we probably get an advantage there.

We don't go to Darwin because the NRL wants us to help spread the game. We go there because the NT govt give us a shitload of money.
