Shaque is useless,he has had calf problems since last season and now again,it seems to me some look for ways to dodge training ,shuster again injured and wont be fit, shaque needs to work and build up his calfs
Shaque spends all of his time trying to attain some degree of fitness which he finds very difficult---he's too big & cumbersome---if he's the best we can offer we have troubles !! He's surviving on the fact he's a "MITCHELL"--that's not good enough !!

“Went for another look at training today, being a debbie-downer here but Campbell hurt his wrist (kept training but hardly used that wrist after) and Shaq came off with what looked a calf issue. It looks a brutal offseason so I guess you’re always going to get casualties.

No sign of Cody, nor Munro. Arrow didn’t train, Host, Havili and Biondi Odo were with the rehab group. Young Matt Humphries went off early too.

Balancing that up because I don’t want to send this place into too big a meltdown I thought Dodd, Sullivan, Latrell and Fletcher look to be going great guns.

Also Ben Lovett and Josh Schuster won’t be ready for round 1.

Keaon and Thomas Fletcher trained at starting edges today”

From another Souths site
So by the sounds of it Keaon will line up at edge and Duncan will be our starting lock until Murray's fit. I assume Keaon will line up outside Dodd. Left edge position is a big question mark. We need someone who is a good defender but they'll mostly just be running block plays down that side anyway with Cody, Jack and Munro. I assume that's why we signed Aitken because he's just a workhorse and not really a fancy player.

Arrow moving to the forward rotation will be better for him. When he plays for Queensland he kills it there. So maybe round 1 team that Bennett wants will be

8. Tatola
9. Mamazoules/Humphreys
10. Moale
11. Fletcher?
12. Keaon
13. Duncan

14. Havili?
15. Arrow
16. Keppie
17. Schuster/Host?

Still plenty of time before the trials. I think with the boys being trained much harder this summer, they're getting more soreness and niggles like they would after a game so naturally, some of them need recovery days and can't do it almost every day, similar to needing recovery after a match. Doesn't mean they're full on injured necessarily.

I doubt Wayne and Elkin would be letting any of the boys fake injuries and just bludge on the sidelines.

Reports are Hubner has been training really well and I'd expect him to be in the 17 ahead of Schuster or Host at this stage. He's a real worker and someone that Wayne would love coming off the bench.

I'm only speculating I don't know for sure. I'm sure Hubner could be ahead of Schuster or Host.

Schuster was really impressive when he was playing at Manly though. Could play a lot like how John Sutton did. It would also be handy having someone that could move to 6 if Cody went down. Cody by the sounds of it is underdone and unless Wayne wants to play Humphreys off the bench we need somebody to cover half. I just don't know if he's fit enough to manage a starting spot by the sounds of it.

So currently this is our injury/rehab ward. Lets hope this is cut in half at least by round 1:

Murray
Tatola
Aitken
Arrow
AJ
Lovett
Cody
Munro
Schuster
Host
Shaq
Havili
Mellars

Better now than later I suppose.

13 of our top 27/28 injured

I'd say Schuster is behind Cody on the fitness reports and needs far more conditioning work to be selected. He's more likely to need some game time in reggies once he is fully fit again and will need to prove himself from scratch again. He can't rely on form from several years ago after falling off the perch last year. But, if he does find fitness and form, I agree he could be another Sutto out there for us. Just needs to make his tackles and his metres first ahead of the fancy ball playing stuff. He got dropped at Manly for not pulling his weight as a member of the pack.

Cody will be right. He misses very few games.

We haven't been lucky with it the past couple of years... Our injury rate seems to be the highest in the NRL
Munro rumoured to have a shoulder issue currently not too serious though.

Schuster looks so unconditioned.

Shaq came off injured today.

I would not buy what Solly said on SEN about AJ being good to go my mate at training last week asked AJ he said aiming for round 4. Murray still non contact hand and wrist in brace. Tatola they’re being very cautious with. Aitken won’t be ready.

Mellars injured again other day at training hammy. I’m not sure he can make it his body keeps playing up the last 24-36 months.

Same thing happened last year,he had a calf problem and couldnt train and wasnt fit,it looked like he had a belly poking out, because of his age maybe he should be managed different so he dosent strain his calfs and he gets fitter, from what ive heard, injuries are starting to stunt the preseason, shuster again, like at manly injured, shaque again, cody ,again, maybe they need to get in early and get a bit of massage on those calfs before training, mellars has a recurring hamstring problem and should see a specialist
