Casey would be an improvement on Milne if he does sign. Would be cheaper and is a proper centre. He faced us twice in 2022 with Milne as his opposite and he beat Milne pointless both times, once to score himself and the 2nd match to set up Averillo. Given the injuries we are still dealing with out wide with AJ, Mellars and now possibly Graham out, we need more depth out wide or we'll be starting the season with no name reggies against a very dangerous Dolphins backline.

From someone at training today

“Tatola still doing walking laps but as usual came out of the gym soaking wet so is doing plenty of work.

So Aitken out onfield standing with Wayne while training was going on. Didn’t participate but looked in good spirits. Am really none the wiser on how long he’s out for.

Penitani’s the dark horse, looked good in the opposed session, set up a great try, ran strongly on the wing.

It was quite a mix up of guys in the backline, fill in players like Casey and Bentley Hape too. There was a mix of A and B team players on both sides. Webley even played centre on one team for a lot of the time.

I thought Mamouzelos went really well today.

Can Murray was using his hand/wrist noticeably more today, he’s been super careful with it until today, he hasn’t even been using it to catch or pass but did today.”

Campbell Graham out indefinitely. According to the Telegraph. Awful awful news.

Update on 30 Jan: X-rays have confirmed Rabbitohs centre Campbell Graham has sustained a broken hand at training this week.

Graham will see a specialist again next week to determine a further course of action for rehabilitation of the injury.

The Rabbitohs will update Members and supporters once more information is known.

Source is from Rabbitohs website

Broken hand - usually about 4 weeks unless it's a compound, complex fracture. But if it's a clean break, should be right in around 4 weeks which means still a good shout for round 1 but won't play trials. He could have used a run before the comp starts given how long he's been out so he will take a little longer to find form but it's not the end of the world.

He was a rock in our star studded pack - the real glue that held things together that helped bigger names like Macca shine by doing so much dirty work and one percenters. He was a regular member of the side when I first started going out to Redfern as a kid and truly following the game. Real sad loss. RIP to a Souths legend.

Scans confirmed a broken hand for Campbell Graham - will let swelling settle then visit a specialist next week to decide on surgery vs conservative management. Main hand bone groups: Metacarpals - often 3-5 week return Carpals - varied, scaphoid most common & can be 6+ weeks

Another Report from training today:

A session with a lot of conditioning and constant running. Boys were knackered by the end of it. Latrell was absolutely cooked.

Heard from a very reliable source in the coaching staff at the end of the session that Campbell Graham will be 3-4 weeks and be ready for the start of the season.

Jye Gray went down with what seemed to be an ankle injury in a simulated game. However he recovered and continued to play.

A high number of the senior boys were absent from training today. They were inside doing their own conditioning and came later. This included Jai Arrow, my man the slug Keppie, Havili, AJ, Host, Aitken, Shaq, Junior, Matt Humphries has now gone back to the SG ball squad, Mellars, Campbell Graham, Tyrone Munro (suffered a head knock last week), Cody the list goes on. A lot of the boys were wearing jerseys today that looked like they had been called in from NSW Cup.

There was a massive emphasis on working hard off the ground - making the 10m - moving forward as a unit and this was repetitive throughout the session. As always Elkin was hammering them.

A couple of the refs were down at training today refereeing a simulated match at stages throughout.

Keaon is looking very good. One of the fittest at the club. Leading most if not all drills. Makes me excited thinking what he’ll do this year.

At the end of the session Dodd, Latrell, Jayden Sullivan stayed behind and did a lot of kicking practice.”
