Whilst cook is great don’t forget Hodgson has spent most of the season out injured, he obviously doesn’t get the whole origin love in as he isn’t an Ozzie but he went close to getting a Dally M.

You only need to look at the impact his return has had on Canberra this year to see. Especially returning from a major knee injury like he has, Hodgson hasn't missed a beat!
Imagine what Canberra could be if he had someone good to pass to

For me replacing Angus isn’t the biggest problem. He runs good lines and you can groom plenty of second rowers to do the same job that he does. In fact I’m pretty sure Cameron Murray is a straight slot in. Which would allow Fuimaono or Britt or even Sironen to compete for that bench role.

For me the biggest problem is locking up the talent we already have. Cook, Graham, Hiroti and Murray are all coming off contract next year and all of these players will be vital for us as a team moving forward. Forget recruiting a second rower if it’s gonna stop us from resigning Cook or Murray. Cook has been at integral part of our 2018 campaign and he’s due for a massive pay upgrade which he definitely deserves.
Don’t forget Jennings.

Agree with this.
I’d say the the targets should be
Tariq Sims or
Viliame Kikau or
Fisher-Harris

All only a year to run on their current deals.

Also think a priority is extending Cook & locking up those off contract
Jennings
Tatola
Sutton
Fuimaono ( maybe)
I agree with the “maybe” next to Fui. Earlier in the year I would of said definitely, but with the recurrence of injury in the Bears game it’s like he’s made out of glass. If he becomes injury prone it does put a question mark next to his name.

Completely agree bro. We could create something really special in the near future if we can keep all these guys together. We have cap room to move for 2019 and it's absolutely vital we hold onto guys like Cook and Murray. I think Tatola and Nicholls deserve a new contract also.
Yep I would keep Nicholls too. He won't cost too much.

As long as we don't pay overs!
Rabs as i have previously stated, overs are inevitable unfortunately. Its part of the comings and goings of players. To entice another teams player you need to pay overs especially if he is from out of town. Consequently if a team wants one of ours they are going to offer overs and to keep him we need to match the overs hense crighton he was offered they say 950k we offered 500 we wouldnt match he left, and dont let anyone say it was more than the carrots offered, its all about money.
Take sua we have offered 500k to be frank this kid will in 2 years be every bit as good as crighton, to get him to change state 500 is peanuts, we needed to make it 700k at least a price those horses couldnt afford, 500 is easy and he wont come.

"Overs" is a ridiculous concept and statement.

Nobody even knows what overs is until the contract is complete. Nobody goes out and signs a player for above market value... If a player is offered $X then that is what he's worth. It's rare that one club will really blow all the other clubs out of the water. You may see it in a situation like Newcastle had with Kalyn Ponga last year and that's about it.

When Oates comes to make his decision, he'll have offers from 3 or 4 clubs and they'll all be similar or the same.

Whether that money is overs or not.. Nobody knows until the end of the contract when they look back at what he has provided for the money.

If rumours are true and Crichton is on 800k then it’s overs. If I’m Richo and I’m paying 700k I want to make damn sure that I’m giving it to a quality player who has NRL experience in that position. Especially considering it’s an out of spine position. I’m starting to believe this whole Oates to second row thing is a ploy by Oates to get more money from the Broncos. If he was serious about playing in the second row then we should give him a decent 1 year offer with the opportunity to prove himself, which Bennett is not providing, and get an upgrade if he plays well. Seibold is a great coach but the coach can only do so much if the player physically can’t play that position.

If we are paying over $500k then agree a quality backrower should be in order.
Sims or Kikau would be top of list

Hiroti?? Unproven in first grade.

Not sure how the bulldogs could afford lunch let alone the players they’re being rumoured to be chasing.

Rhyse Martin would be a better get than Oates.
