Awesome to hear Southy!!

In other news, I saw a rumour online that we've told Turner he is free to look elsewhere and the UK may be an option for him.
Unfortunately the injury with his neck seems to have hampered him... very unfortunate!

Itsa I have heard Rorters are chasing Jennings!
It’s crazy what a difference a year makes. Last year I would not have given a shit if Jennings left, now I’d be devastated if we had to let him go. He’s having a season and a half and I’m starting to agree with Gould and others who rate him the best of the brothers. He is going to be better than Michael. I really hope the club is putting up some sort of fight to keep him.

Mate if you said, "it's not from a credible source, but..." you'd have no dramas from me.

My only issue is when...."people" state a rumour, refuse to give a source, but then relentlessly try to convince people it's from a super secret inside source and cry like they're being attacked if anyone doesn't believe them.

As long as you aren't trying to misrepresent a rumour as a fact, then it's fine by me.
There you go @southsport no backlash. You can say

“I dont have a reliable source yet, but I’m hearing, 1:........................, 2:.....................
and 3:......................... will be done deals before the end of the year.”

Please put a brother out of his misery.

As long as we can sort out our own players then any good signing is a bonus. We’re on top of the table with the current crop, we don’t really need major signings just need to try and keep the core group together so we can stay at the top.

It's always good to reinvigorate the squad with fresh faces and new challengers but i agree that there is no need to rush out and sign someone for the sake of getting names in. Seibold has been pretty shrewd with his signings and they've paid off so far.

We need a replacement for Angus! Sutto most likely only has one year to go too!

I'd hope we get Oates!

I've told others on here if they want to tell you they can, will likely find out well before years end.
I think I'll just stick to letting the guys I want to know know as well!

I am probably not going to be able to post rumours in here form now on either for the better... it just gets all torn to threads....

It's a big shame it has come to this though Southy and I know you're a stalwart on here mate! I know quite a lot of others are feeling the same way too!

I will give a bit of info away seeing you seem interested in very good footy talk and may post more later but I've read on another forum that we want to bring up Rodwell and Johnstone next year. We believe playing them against me for this season at Norths is just what they needed.
And this doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Both have huge wraps from their junior days, so its only a matter of time before they get some run in the top grade.

I would love Oates. One offseason and a full season in the backrow and he’d be top 5 in that position.
So would I mate but the thing that I fear may stop it happening is that another club just for example a cashed up club I dunno like maybe the Knights for example may offer something like @ 4yr 2.7 mil deal or something along those lines.

I don't think we'd be willing to go too much above 550 for Oates. Hopefully for the fact Seibs was in the maroons set up that he hopefully has a connection with Oates! I think he'd make loads of metres too and he's a good hole runner! Thing that sometimes holds him back imo is his ball handling, but maybe I'm being harsh.

There was a rumour a while ago Fuimaono wanted 430k as well. Considering he's barely been on the paddock I can't see us giving him that!

Also Curns how much do you think Cookie will command?? Currently he's probably only on about 400k or maybe even a bit less than that. I think he will be commanding about 700k a season. So we could be looking at a 4yr deal I'd hope and imagine it to be around the 2.8 million mark. Cookie could probably get 800k elsewhere but I have a good feeling he will stay loyal to us Curns. I always believed in him all along and felt Madge misread the situation re Cook. All he need was to be believed in and get his confidence up an boom BAM BABY!!

If we let a guy like Turner or Musgrove go as well I'm fine with it as long as we aren't paying part of their contracts tomplay elsewhere.

I guess at least we aren't paying loads of money for Farah so part of that money can be used on Cookie!

Corey Oates is an interesting one. Bennett was quoted on NRL.com the other day saying he has no intention of playing Oates in the backrow.
So it's pretty clear that if he is to play in the pack, he'll be required to move clubs.
The sticking point in my mind however is what is his worth? He's an Origin winger with minimal forward experience. So does he demand a salary that an Origin winger would or does he take less money to play in a position that he is equipt to play but has very little form to go off?
The other thing to consider is that he'll most likely end up having to relocate. GC are sorted in the backrow so that possibly becomes a factor too.
I'm far from opposed of the idea of seeing him in cardinal and myrtle and believe that he could be a good replacement for Crichton but the negotiations could be a real sticking point.
I expect he'll stay at Brisbane unless either A - a club like Manly or Parra throws money at him for some positive media or B - he takes less money initially over a season or two to prove himself as a forward at a club like Souths, Wests or maybe Cronulla where there is likely to be an opening.
