Dogs have signed haraweara neara from penrith. What i would like to know is how we didnt try to get him, a very talented player who would of slotted straight into crightons spot, and canterbury who everyone thinks cant afford to buy players is marching on signing some very talented players. Again we sit on our arses buying reserve graders
How do you know we didn’t try? Our back office is very good at not leaking negotiations.

CHN's Penrith deal runs to 2020 according to NRL.com. Perhaps this deal was negotiated between Penrith and Canterbury.
There's suggestions that this move is happening to free up cash to keep Peachey at Penrith.

CHN would've been a fantastic signing but from what i understand, Souths wouldn't have been able to just go and negotiate with him until November.

Well how did canterbury do the deal?
This not talking to players until nov1 of their last year is BS clubs talk whenever they like

It's there in the post you quoted.
By negotiating with Penrith.
When it's official, expect a reserve grade Bulldog to go the other way.

As others have posted how did you know we didn’t make enquiries? He would of demanded a big contract compared to a player like Dillon who hasn’t played much NRL but has the capability to be a successful NRL player. Our recruitment strategy over the last 2 years hasn’t been to go out and buy big stars. We buy players capable of playing NRL and turn them into consistent NRL players.

Why you ask? Because it works better for long term success. You can buy an amazing squad of 17 like the roosters have or you can consistently buy promising juniors and have an even squad of 30, full of capable NRL players. When one goes out the door for a pay day you have another ready to step up. In Crichton’s case it’ll be Murray stepping up and Britt moving to the bench.

What happens when we lose Murray? I’m pretty sure we won’t as firstly he’s a Souths boy at heart and secondly we have the cap space from not going out and buying players like CHN.

It’s very similar to the Melbourne approach. They spend their money on the spine and develop the rest from good fringe players. We are heading in that direction it feels like.

Couldn’t agree more. I used to be like everyone else and think it was ridiculous trying to copy Melbourne but I’ve eaten my words and I think the approach we have taken in recent years is so much better. All you have to do is look at the bulldogs to see how it can backfire. There’s no guarantee someone’s gonna be the same player when they move clubs for multiple different reasons. Would Cameron Smith be the same player at a different club? I personally don’t think so.

That's a shame as on his day, he's a fantastic player. it's such a shame he had that whole assault case thing as it wrecked his career imo. It was actually crazy how good he was for us in 2014 but it all fell away after that.

Has done some bad things in his life but will always hold a special place in my heart and memory for obvious reasons.

If we play the Storm we are gonna find it so tough.... can’t see us beating them down there. Munster Slater back next week.

We play shit down there. They get all the ref calls.
I'm kind of thinking we have a better chance against the Storm. Seibs is all over their game plan. One thing this side has done this year is busted a lot of "hoodoos".

If I didn’t know better I’d say that Bellamy wanted to finish 2nd. If storm don’t meet us next week then we’re most likely going to meet them in the semi finals right? Which would most likely mean a game against us at ANZ assuming they lose to the Sharks and win their next semi final. Plus we win our first final against the roosters.

But add on top of that the Storms record against the Sharks recently isn’t great. The Sharks are a big bogey team for the Storm. Where the storms record against us, minus the last game, is almost flawless. Bellamy was okay with dropping that game because he knew it’d probably be better for their finals chances finishing 2nd!

Or I’m just being a crazy conspiracy theorist and I belong in a ward.

We can beat both the Roosters and Storm we just need to make sure we don’t get frustrated like we did at the Canberra game. That was 2016/17 Souths like. Just complete the sets and we can lay points on better than any team in the competition.

I don't think you're crazy at all.

I can't actually read any articles because it goes to pay wall but the Telegraph is reporting that we are set to re-sign Sam on a multi-million dollar, long term deal and the blurb says it could see him become the second most capped player in our history.

That sounds really promising if true!!
