He can cover a lot of positions but he’s a fairly big body.

As he matures and puts some weight on maybe his future is second row. He maybe the next “Sutto” , a ball playing second rower?

Young donut is a very exciting prospect and has an excellent attitude. You are right in that seems to have the world at his feet in terms of a future position. I think he probably needs a lot of work with his hands and step and he’s a future 5/8 if aj isnt interested and sutto was a great 5/8 in his days there.

When Sutto started, in full swing, he had a step that would baffle and confound many opponents. It was honestly breathtaking.

Young donut could be Suttos personal project.

So I see him has a strong stepping 5/8 then move to second row.

I’d also be bringing Craig Gower to the club, just about the best hands in rugby league history. Perfect to the atomic scale.

Im sorry to say Tertiary education means shit,u could be the smartest on earth and still be as dumb as an ox in life in attitude in personality etc, of course i dont necessarily mean you, im just saying tertiary is not the beall end all. Gates isnt tertiary educated, many other successful people are not, nouse is very important.

Why all the negativity around here all of a sudden guys? I get some of you are being realistic, I agree with a lot of your points for sure and it's not great that we're losing some of these players in return for not much but Seibs is a smart man, he knows what he's doing. The club will also have a plan and I have no doubts we can fill the second row void that is going to be opened up.

There is a lot of water to go under the bridge through the Pre-Season and we may just see a couple of young forwards really step up, you never know.

On another note, welcome to the forum Certitude but just be careful with what you say to some people around here since you're new. I have no problem with arguing, it's good but please try to keep it civil.

Yeah I thought about him at fb too but I’d rather channel the energy into aj who is still only 23 and won’t hit his physical peak in strength for about another 3 or 4 years. Aj has the speed, agility and he’s a seasoned campaigner at a still tender age. Once he bulks up, if he can retain his other attributes, he will be absolute dynamite.

Don’t forget he replaced the illustrious Merro.

So donut might find solace in the halves. He’s still a work in progress, but a very impressive one.

Yeah I’ve done a few joint degrees and even post grad stuff and I agree with you 100%

There’s the good and bad at all levels of educational attainment, occupations, culture, gender, religion and all of these things that people try to base their judgments on.

I think I and most people could tackle any argument to the contrary.


In the day to day life, you should just treat and deal with folk as you would like to be treated.

That’s what I’ve learned in life anyway.

A lot of footballers weren’t the best at school but they are great players, nice people and spend their money on other people. I know one or two. They also pay tax which goes to support.... unis!!

The life of an nrl player is very challenging.

I am not sure why people make these judgments about formal education because they are irrational and don’t seem to hold true in the real world.

It’s good to study, but if you are a creep it really doesn’t matter. You will still be a creep with a bit of paper after graduating etc. You will be found out eventually.

And a lot of life and opportunity arrives via friendships and relationships with all kinds of people.

Have a good life, help others, entertain sometimes, support Souths and then die. That’s about it lads.

Eventually I see AD as a centre mace, maybe to the forwards later in his career.

Young donut ( affectionate name for AD) stands 6ft 3 and weighs in at a 94 kilo.

Gi is only 2 inches higher and weighs about 105 kilos

And we know gi tears through a lot of forwards let alone the backs he dwarfs and obliterates regularly.

So to get donut close, say add 10 kilo of muscle.

There’s a guy on quora talking about 3 years of hard work to get the solid 10 kg of extra muscle with variations and allowances for an individual body’s potential.

But this kid is only 20, so he’s got in theory another 7 years to meet natural strength peak anyway.

One of his challenges is keeping areobically fit at the same time meeting muscle targets.

But gi has two other gifts:

His understanding of football and
His mastery of the spirit and passion.

These can’t quite be totally taught I think. Players are called by the football gods or not to reach this level. The sublime JT and Cam Smith would be others.

But if a player has even half of gis ability, he would be very good player.

So the world is really at AD’s feet.

He could be almost anything and play anywhere. I would hope Gi stays with us post career to teach our players and with Sutto, lead us forward.

AJ's a ball player. That's why we have big, powerful wingers. They cart the ball up off our own line, Johnston chimes in at second/third receiver to be another point of attack. That's why he had 11 try assists this year and played such a major role in our left edge attack.

You not understanding a pretty basic game plan isn't a knock on AJ.
