NRL set to force clubs to relocate or risk folding under new clause in licensing agreement: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...e/news-story/5496817855eab310fa6973d8c8941adb

Absolutely huge news for the game!! What does everyone think about this? I'd much rather expand through relocation than adding teams, as long as it's not us doing the moving.
Yeah. I’m a little worried about this. The NRL has absolute power in these clauses, there’s no court cases that can save us if they tap us on the shoulder. But hey Callmack you could have the Rabbits over on your side of the ditch  But surely clubs like Manly have to be on the block before us, and surely they can’t touch the two remaining foundation clubs.

In a new market I'm of the opinion that relocation could be a better option but for Brisbane 2 i believe they'll be able to support a new NRL level franchise.

Expansion is at least 10 years overdue and events 17 years ago are partly responsible for holding it back.

If clubs were to be relocated, who would it likely be? While it does seem that Sydney is saturated, how many are struggling to survive?

Agree. I didn’t think Brisbane fans would get behind a relocated Sydney club. I think they need their own new franchise.

The two struggling clubs financially atm are Manly and Cronulla. Although Cronulla are sprooking some developers are throwing $40mil at them, apparently it’s all smoke and mirrors at this stage.

Manly are definitely on the block and have already gone through a failed merger. I thought Cronulla's finances had been sorted though?

Also I don’t know what the situation is now, but Western Suburbs Magpies were keeping the West Tigers above water for a while.

Apparently Cronulla don’t get all that money up front, most won’t come until the development is built and sold. $8 million is going towards getting them back in the black. Their problem will be staying in the black. But you’re right they are a lot safer than they were last year.

Has anyone heard when Douehi will be back
Why doesn’t Wayne give Amone a go now before George gets back
Possible backline reshuffle if GI out injured

Doueihi is expected back in the next few weeks i think. Doubt he'll be rushed back into the fold.
I feel Bennett is the type of coach who likes to stick by his 17. We've seen in the past that he isn't one to rush in young forwards.

Last injury report said Douehi was a few weeks away from training with the team so I’d give it another few weeks from there. Originally the plan was to be back on the field around round 8. I’d say he’d have a few games with the NSWCup first up though.
