The offer was put to him from us, souths, we have withdrawn the offer, the feeling is we will not be bent over a barrel for yearly pay rises from big mouth keary, souths have decided to let him go and work on cody , if cody plays good against rorters i personally wouldnt put keary back in first grade

Thanks mate.

Keary wanted more than AR did he???? I reckon he does and he won't get it.

Keary asking $800k per season according to SMH...........imo he's worth about $300k at this stage of his career.

Whoever gets him will get a very good HALFBACK at whatever they pay!!

My guess is that Saints will get him to replace Benji.

The Cronk rumour could create a number of changes if Sths are genuinely interested!!

A halfback who has a bad kicking game.

Saints can pay overs for Keary. Let them waste their cap.

I don't want Cronk.

Reyno is our future.

I think Keary's kicking game will be fine after he settles in to a fulltime halfback role!!

He has the advantage of a slick running game.

Depends whether Maguire wants Cronk--they are pretty close & Cronk's the best going around!!!

The only one interested in 32year old gronk was Lee who demoralised and screwed our entire squad including our coach, he rang newcastle about them taking madge he was leaking all the bullshit, we now have no interest in gronk, and yes st george are favourites to sign "one foot Keary" and honestly he couldnt be gone fast enough, Mr Doyen, you love him you can have him over your place, he is so ordinary i cant believe you are such a bad judge, sorry

South Sydney Rabbitohs centre Bryson Goodwin opens up about failed Gold Coast Titans switch
Date
March 5, 2016 - 2:36PM

Had Bryson Goodwin had his way he would be lining up for the Gold Coast instead of South Sydney on Sunday.

The Titans targeted Goodwin as they looked to add some much needed depth to their backline. A rich offer came his way and at 30 it was a chance for Goodwin to secure an extended deal. While the Rabbitohs cleared the decks and released the likes of Dylan Walker and Chris McQueen to make salary cap space for the returning Sam Burgess, they refused Goodwin an opportunity to relocate in January. Instead, the Titans secured Rabbitohs winger John Olive for this year.

Goodwin, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Rabbitohs in October, will take his place at centre against the Roosters just hours before the Titans host Newcastle. Goodwin said he was at ease with the decision as he opened up about the contract saga for the first time.

"They wanted me to stay here," Goodwin said. "I asked them [to release me] but they wanted me to stay. There's not much else I can do about it. I'm happy to be here now and I'm looking forward to playing this year.

"You could look at [the decision not to release me] either way. I'm not disappointed that I had to stay here at Souths. I'm looking forward to playing."

While Goodwin was overlooked for selection during the Rabbitohs 2014 premiership run, he rejuvenated himself with career-best performances last year. He and Alex Johnston were the only Rabbitohs to play all 25 games. Along with Greg Inglis, he is a senior member of the Rabbitohs back line.

"There were a few things that worked out," Goodwin said. "I was in a good place at home. Playing good and want to build on it for this year.

"I've been trying to help out with the younger fellas. I've been around a bit now. Whatever I can help them with I will. I'm still learning a few things off them as well."

Goodwin has worked closely with Hymel Hunt who will start the season at centre. Hunt was a late addition to the Rabbitohs squad, and will play just his fifth NRL game since his 2013 debut with stints at the Gold Coast and Melbourne.

Impressive pre-season performances have seen Hunt selected ahead of experienced centre Kirisome Auva'a and former Queensland representative Dane Nielsen.

"He has trained really well and trialled really well," Goodwin said. "Hopefully he does a good job for us. From what I've seen he will do that.

"I'm looking forward to watching him play. He is a big thing. He is solid and defends well and carries the ball hard.

"We'll have to see a bit more of him on the weekend."

Olive looked good in his debut for the Titans.

looks like the club might need to shop around for another 2nd rower with Sutto out injured

Sam will go back to lock or second-row and there's George and Tom to come into the side.

But Turner might also be out and Tom is out for at least another few weeks.

I think Turner will be ok. Still have Carter, Sam B, Clark and Grevsmuhl to fill the backrow spots. George B, Tyrrell, Musgrove and Nathan Brown at prop. Depth will be a little short but will hopefully get us through.
