yep, definitely

Hayne is evasive but not blessed with extra speed

Fui is our fastest over 20, over 50 I would say Guru or Burt, although Tom Humble maybe our fastest, he hasn't played yet but he may debut on MNF against Manly replacing KK at 5/8

Exactly. Hayne's got great acceleration, he can pretty much go from a dead start to full pace in one step. But once Grothe gets into full flight though no one can run him down and even if they somehow do they'll just get the palm off as he's that strong. Some great length of the field tries he's come up with for our club over the years.

Chris Lawrence used to clean up at the school athletics Campbelltown districts. I reckon he'd go alright over the 100m and Inglis would have to be one of the best with his long strides.

The problem with Inglis and Grothe is they only run as fast as they need to.

Must be in the top 25 for your club.

I am unsure why clubs would be worried, surley they do sprints at training.

No reason not to have 2 prizes, one race, have a camera and timer at the 40 and 100.

Uate will blitz it, guarantee it. His running style is not suited to running with a ball because he is a traditional sprinter who uses his arms a lot when running, can't do that while holding a ball. People probably think someone is quick for running him down, but watch the tapes again, he was also dealing with a fullback infront of him.

Open space with no ball or with everyone holding a ball, he will beat anyone in the NRL.

The two Titans wingers are absolute flyers though too.
Can't remember his name, but one of the titans wingers was in NYC last year and Kevin Naiquama smoked him 2 or 3 times - left him for dead.
That was a few weeks after he had been in firstgrade and people were raving about his speed.
Kev Naiquama is bloody fast - got a couple of 3 try hauls and a 4 try haul in his last 20 games or so - but he is well short of Uate over 100 - might go close to matching him over 40.

Uate has slowed down a bit over the years.
When he first came to the Knights he was 10 or 15 kg lighter and still training as a sprinter.
The first time i saw him at the Knights he was playing beside a guy named Callan Richardson who was the NSW under 18 captain and a noted speedster. Someone kicked ahead, and over 40 metres Uate left Richardson at least 7 metres behind.
It was one of those moments where you wish you had a replay button - I think I wrote a post that day saying i'd seen the new Martin Offiah - then he went the whole SG Ball season without scoring a try after that first one.

Anyway, he has traded a bit of speed for size and power, but it was a fair trade i'd say.

My Money is on B Moz seems to hit top speed very quickly and not have any trouble maintaining it over longer distances.

Sowie is a bit of a smokey i am sure he scored some very long range tries last year from broken play but i seem to remember BMoz seemingly ease up beside him as support without breaking a sweat a couple of times.

It seems like we have this thread every 3 months or so and people bring up the same examples over and over again...

Why is he wasting his time in League.
The top sprinters in this country make millions in endorsements, and none of them can run an Olympic A time.
Uate ran 3rd in the national under 16s 100m in 10.7 sec from memory.
Darren Albert's best time was 11.1, but that was in his 20s and when he was training as a footy player.

how about the fastest in each position? i'm probably off the mark but...

Fullback - Hayne
Winger - Uate
Centre - Lawrence
5/8 - Barba
Halfback - Soward
Lock - Creagh (?)
Second Row - Mason
Front Row - No idea...Blair?
Hooker - Luke (?)

Id say Slater over Hayne, Jennings over Lawrence, Moi Moi would probably be the fastest prop, If Wicks was still around he'd be there aswell. As for second rower id say Watmough, he has great acceleration

Mark Tuafua is the fastest forward at the Knights and faster than several of the backs.
He has scored a few tries after breaking through the line and running 20 or 30, and he could be the prop to shock everyone if he ever sees 70 or 80 metres of clear air in front of him - be interesting to see.

Obviously Uate is the fastest in the game, Jarryd Hayne second.

The saddest moment I have spent in this forum was seeing supposed Parramatta supporters on the Eels forum suggesting that MoiMoi was faster than Hayne over 100.

Huh? There is not a lot of money in Australian athletics.
