Thanks for that, using words such 'hissyfit' and 'bullshit' really backs up your point. And also the evidence to support your argument which was none. It's quite obvious you a what we call a T-R-O-L-L.
Hahahahaha
Awww did my big nasty words upset your sensibilities, Peter?
You must be Gen Y.
There' s been plenty of evidence provided to show that its an appropriate comparison. You S-I-M-P-L-E-T-O-N.
Ponga has signed on for less than $3 million for 5 years, but to keep it simple (for you) let's make it an even $3 million. (Despite your Brisbane propaganda rag stating it was $3.5 - that was a little bit off truth bending)
Thurston signed on for $240,000 for the 2005 season when the cap was $3.366 million. Around 7.1% off the cap.
The consensus is that the 2018 salary cap will be $9 million.
So $600,000 of a $9 million cap is around 6.7% of the cap.
Thurston had played around 20 games in 3 seasons when he signed on with the Cowboys and was universally rejected by other clubs in his junior years (obviously stupid in hindsight, but the reality at the time).
Ponga has only played 2 FG games, but has MASSIVE wraps on him.
Back in 2004, the fullback role was nowhere near as important (or paid as high) as they are in the game today.
Sooooooo paying less than 7% of their cap for the biggest prospect in the game (arguably) in one of the 4 key roles on the field would make it a pretty fair comparison.
If you are Gen Y as I suspect, I get that you don't like the Thurston comparison, because you were probably 9 years old at the time.
Sorry again, Peter for my nasty, nasty words.
