Dugan is always in form he never actually plays a bad game for the Raiders (well ok he has had a couple of bad games) its more just him actually being on the park so far in his career.

Billy Slater is arguably the best player in the game, but he isnt even the best fullback according to you, i agree GI is in great touch at the moment and is extremely talented but please? Better than Slater? SMH.

Why not, youd think his current form wont disipate while he's at fullback.

And up until the end of 2010 there wasnt much between them, for the most part Slater had more chances to dominate in club football while Inglis was the more dominant player at rep level.

Then Billy has a great 2011, Greg has an injury plagued start to his career at Souths and people act as if theres light years between them.

it all depends how you rate them i guess like in many ways inglis is the best in the comp as he doesn't need a great halfback to make him look good he's so destructive he can do it himself while someone like slater generally his best asset would be his support play and reading of the game while players like minichello may be close to the best all round fullback (including defence, position play, under the bomb, support play etc) but he definitely lacks the great attack of a hayne or a moltzen or a dugan.

i had hoffman really high but maybe i haven't watched him closely enough as not one other person has had him in the top 6 so i will fold on that one but when i have watched him i seem to of been really really impressed

there should be guidelines to this list

players mustve played at least a full season as a fullback. Ingli is great now but he's doing for souths what hayne did for parra in 09. showing his skill and everyone around him is just lifted in confidence. Watch when he is having a shocker the team will struggle. yes they fought back against drags without him but drags are hardly the threat they used to be. We almost beat them for f**k sake!

same as hayne. he never really has a shocker (sometimes) he always has his hand in the tries and kicks well and just goes about his job, not his fault the rest of them are custard

this is just proven whenever he pulls on a blues jersey. better performing team at a higher level of game and he is noticed

We're blessed with a whole string of quality fullbacks in the NRL, with some of them not even able to grab a spot in that position, because they have better ones ahead of them, like Beale and Fisiiahi for example.

IMO, Hayne, Barba and Hoffman are all capable of threatning the top 4, but:

- Hayne is the example of how a crappy mentality and work ethic brings you down. His defense is downright embarrassing at times, but he is an attacking weapon.
- Barba on the other hand was close to the worst fullback in defense last season, but he has been working on it and is no longer a speed bump. Still needs to get better under the high ball.
- Hoffman is probably close to the best defensive fullback in the comp, but his ball playing skills and positioning in attack are still letting him down.

At the other end of the spectrum, only Moltzen and Zillman are below par really, although Boyd has been really crap this season. But he has some credit from the past...

1. Slater
2. Inglis
3. Bowen
4. Dugan
5. Stewart
6. Barba
7. Hayne
8. Hoffman
9. Mini
10. Coote
11. Locke
12. Morris
13. Gardner
14. Boyd
15. Moltzen
16. Zillman

Current form Slater, Inglis, Stewart.

But Inglis would be out of that list for the better part of every year.

Some people have intimated it, but I really think there's 2 sides to this.

There's the attacking fullbacks, who have good awareness in attack, good ball skills, and can hit the hole, or pass before the line for the outside, or the flat runner.

Then there's the defensive fullbacks, who make very few mistakes, make good defensive reads, safe as a house under the high ball, and have good positioning for kick returns.

On this premise, my list would go:

Attacking Fullbacks:

1. Slater
2. Hayne
3. Inglis
4. Stewart
5. Bowen
6. Barba
7. Dugan
8. Coote
9. Locke
10. Hoffman
11. Morris
12. Mini
13. Boyd
14. Gardner
15. Moltzen
16. Zillman

Defensive Fullbacks:

1. Slater
2. Bowen
3. Hoffman
4. Inglis
5. Mini
6. Hayne
7. Stewart
8. Dugan
9. Barba
10. Boyd
11. Coote
12. Locke
13. Morris
14. Gardner
15. Moltzen
16. Zillman

IS fullback just easy to play? Reece Robinson has already made his name as a quality backup fullback after about 7 games. I would rank him above Moltzen, Zillman and Wright. He's also in better form than Boyd. I think as long as you can catch a bomb you can play fullback.

Ive been saying for a while it is the easiest position to look good in. For a myriad of factors but mainly due to the extra time you have before the defence is in your face.

Conversely I reckon center is the hardest position to have an impact on a game from because of the exact opposite.

I played some fullback when I was much younger in highschool. It's certainly not an easy position to play. There's A LOT of running involved, more so than any other position. You have to catch the high ball every time, clean up low grubbers, take the line on from kick returns, and most importantly, direct and control your defensive line.

Natural athletes will do well aslong as they can catch the ball. Hence why GI's switch to fullback has been so successful, and players like Barba and Bowen really excel.

Dugan would be number 1 fullback but he is number 1 5/8 now :D

Slater is the best all round fullback.
Barba has climbed a few rungs this year
and Inglis has been exceptional at the back

Barba has had to work really hard to look good at Fullback
