One sided game and Melbourne packed it in big time.

Just like 07 really but vice versa.

Try reading what I said. I agreed that it was probably an average game for neutrals but not due to soft tries which was your claim that I was responding to (and I realise your claim wasn't specifically in reference to this game). It was one sided and lacked the excitement a classic grand final had but the quality of the tries was pretty damn good.

My point was it's easy to look good when the other side packs it in.

At least that's the way I saw it.

You're right in saying that I wasn't specifically referring to 08. When I made the post I had 05 & 10 in mind.

To me it was a below average GF. The defence may have been top notch but it didn’t offer much more than that. Had Smith brought his kicking boots we would be talking about at least an 18 point thrashing and the Storm probably would have went for a try once or twice more instead of the penalty goals.

Personally I never felt at any stage that the Dogs were really in it or could win. Credit to them for not allowing it to blowout but they were completely outclassed. 2004 probably represents the last time we have actually seen an even contest with 2003, 1999 and ARL 1997 being the only other examples in the last 15 years.

Best gf since 99.. was better then 99 actually.. Morris would have scored if it wasn't for the pure class and skill of Slater. That try saver was more spectacular then any try.. even a blacklock try.

Pretty ordinary game but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The next best thing to Manly winning it was the Dogs losing it.

Was interesting.

Brilliant tactics and adherence to those tactics by the Storm.

However its disapointing that a top level team cant work out a way to combat a rushing defence - hello short kicks out wide & inside balls

I enjoyed the game, thought it was tough with both sides having good defence.

Agree with Loudstrat, it reminded me of the 2000 gf where defence stopped all the half chances that were created.

The game was rubbish and A wrestleathon and a fitting end to one of the worst seasons on record. The Dogs were devoid of any plan B and if something isn't done to get rid of the wrestling and open up the game league and union may as well merge to become the one game. I had to laugh when some on here said they watched it again maybe they like watching grass grow too as it would surely be a cure for insomnia to watch that match again.

i'd give it a 3 out of 10 and that's being generous

First half was pretty good and the second half was a bit dour. But the Storm played really well and deserved to win. It had a dirty stink and the ref didn't f##k it up.
I'm always fairly generous. 7/10.

Despite the loss I thought it was superb. Only the second ever GF to have a scoreless 2nd half, and both teams weren't shy to attack either.

Weird thing it's all happened so fast that in some ways it didn't feel like a Grand Final.

Considering I was devastated from the weekend before, it was pretty good even though I dont like both teams. Was glad that Desi didnt win 2 back-to-back years in a row and also glad the refs were pretty good on the day.

9/10 based largely on the final score but the defense from both teams at the start of either half was gargantuan!

What helped was that not a whole lot was asked of the refs.

The call on Slater's save was the highlight. I reckon some refs. would have called it a goal line drop out but the refs. got it right here.

Loved the game and it took me until the next day to realise that no points were scored in the 2nd half.

obviously you must have been asleep to not know no points were scored in the second half- cannot blame you if you were though- but then again you follow canberra which might be another reason :sarcasm::lol:
