 We've had games this year where teams have score more than 10 points in the last 3 minutes.
True, but I never felt it was going to happen today. The Storm looked that much better in every aspect of the game.

Yep and in the last 10-15 the Dogs were opening them up a bit. If you didnt enjoy Melbournes defence and the Dogs first half defence, then you dont enjoy rugby league. Watch Rugby Sevens or Under 20's if you want 30 tries a game.

Melbourne were just awesome...

Chambers, and Nielson covered Barba like a bad suit

And the Dogs whole attack is a one trick pony

I wouldn't go out of my way to watch a replay. Just 1 dogs try in the 2nd half would have turned it into an interesting contest.

Somewhere between awesome and average. 7/10.

I was in awe of the Storms performance. They totally shut down the lethal Dogs attack.

Last years GF was shit.

I agree with all of this. I was looking for a 'good' option. The brawl and bite gave it some spark and the Storm were just brilliant.

I would say it was in the top 5 Grand Finals of the NRL era, only the 1999 and 2003 Grand Finals i would say were definitively better than today's game. It was a solid 7 out of 10 game and a superb defensive display by both sides. Apart from 1999 and 2003 every other Grand Final has been flawed in the NRL era.

I personally think it was the 4th best Grand Final of this era

Would've like to see more from barba but with the storm's defence it was always going to be difficult for the bulldogs to get points would've like to see more from melbourne too - Average.

I didn't think it was an 'awesome' game but I was on the Storm bandwagon.

Says more about the quality of grand finals that I rated this game as highly as I did. In saying that, the defence was great and I found the second half enthralling. I thought Storm were a try away from cracking and if there was a side who can score back to back it was the Dogs.

That play for Morris was great and if he had of received the bounce it would have been one of the best grand final tries of all time. Just didn't happen this time.

Conversely though, did the people that think it was awesome cheer on the Storm?

Maybe. I would have been annoyed for a while but I think I'd still hold the same opinion: Tough, close game between the two best teams of 2012. What more could you want? Well, I guess by reading some replies, more points...

Good tough defensive battle, great one on one defence, very little dropped ball or penalties. Old fashioned RL, loved it!

Thought it was a great match. A couple of bounces go the doogies way and it could have been an absolute classic.

First time in a while it's been clearly the best two sides in the comp playing. Last three years has been the best side against a side who hit form at the right time but never quite had the ability to go all the way.

And the Manly Melbourne ones which were the best two sides were one sided as anything.

I reckon it was about a 8/10. Great defence by both teams. Smith's bad kicking kept it close. Because the margin was 10 points for the whole second half, there was always the sense that the Dogs could conjure up two quick tries and snatch it.

I didnt like how the Storm were allowed to get away with so much in the ruck, and I really dont like the Dogs. If you watch the replay, every time the Dogs made a mini break, they were able to hold down for so much longer, stifling any change of a come back to make for a more interesting game. There could of been so many more penalties going the Dogs way.
