I'm biased but fit and firing like T Trbojevic is right now, he is the most devastating RL player in the world, as critical to Manly as Andrew Johns was to Newcastle or JT to Nth Qld.

Im basing this top 5 on ability and performance.

1. Turbo (In an era of exceptional fullbacks, he is actually a step above them all....which is no mean feat).
2. Tedesco.....still such a rock.
3. Papenhyuzen....quickest fullback of the lot.
4. Mitchell.....can't believe Im saying this......I'd say the best ballplayer of the lot.
5. King Gutho

I cannot believe I left RTS off that list....but that is the way I see it.

But if you want both in the Blues, you keep Teddy at FB because Tom can play anywhere in the backline. He’s more adaptable.

Mate I absolutely agree with that logic, really do.

But I also see that with TT at 1.... with Ferguson n Addo carr on the wings... all of a sudden out attacking potency looks much better....

Centres is indeed our potential problem spot and TT could slot in easily. I’m all for picking players in their specialist spots but TT and Latrell Mitchell are absolute standouts that can go anywhere and still perform...

1 - Trbojevic
2 - Addo-Carr
3 - Mitchell
4 - Lomax (pending injury)
5 - Ferguson.

That’s an Uber-Arsenal of attacking weaponry ...

Tedesco not out of place in there though, and if he’s at 1 with TT in place of Lomax.... that’s awesome too.

I'd take RTS over Gutho.

I agree with you. RTS has consistently shown he's better than Gutho. RTS's problem is he's almost a one man band at the Warriors so people overlook hi performances.

Yeah could be. I also think that a lot of people see more of Gutherson than Tuivasa-Scheck as Parra are playing a lot of Thurs/Fri night games and the Warriors inherently are lumbered with saturday afternoons.

Tuivasa-Scheck was the Dally-M player of the year in 2018. In my opinion he's in the top 5 of the fullbacks in the current comp - but the least we see because he's forever going around on a saturday afternoon.

Right now, considering past and present form-

1- Tom T
2- Tedesco
3- Tuivasa Sheck
4- Papenhuyzen
5- Mitchell

Yep that is how I have it. If I could trust Mitchell not to do dumbshit I am probably taking him over Pap, I like big fullbacks.

Yeah, I mean it depends on how we're judging it. If we're rating it on out and out talent, that's a lot different to pure production and on-field consistency. Because arguably RTS is in the top 2 for that, because he's always on the field and he's always in the best 3-4 on the field. And defensively needs to come into it as well.

Skill wise, then that starts to open it up a bit more. Papenhuyzen is just insane with what he can do with the ball and his support play. Tom T is a freak and Teddy is a blockbuster.

Defensively I think Teddy still wins. Whether it is diffusing a bomb or defensively, still my number 1, then RTS, the rest are more focused and now better in the attacking scenario, tough to split turbo, pappi and Latrell in that aspect alone, because all three do it so differently. Pappi is full speed and deceptive, turbo is just explosive and Latrell can bust a line and also ball play.

The lack of great halves these days is overshadowed by the amount of great fullbacks.

If I was starting a new team and had my pick of any of them for a three year contract I would go
Tedesco
RTS
Papa (I'd be signing him to a 5 year one though!)

It's not uncommon for young players to suffer lots of injuries early in their career, especially someone built like Tom. Gutho was let go by Manly in part because of ongoing injuries, look at his last couple of seasons though. You'd take a gamble on Tom given his ability. Add to that you'd be able to add Jake and Ben to the roster without too much hassle.

Good point.

Tedesco was another example... think he did a knee on his debut??

And while it's a different sport - Pat Cummins made his test debut in his teens then was out with injuries over 3-4 seasons.. now look at him...
