Its not a conscious choice but you play the way you prepare. Storm never play a game like that because they decide not to. They don't accept slacking off. Again coach Arthur set the tone by essentially resting players. That was a rookie mistake.
So when was the right time to rest them? Against the Storm? Or in the finals?

They were down because of a lack of support play. That's an attitude thing.

And the attitude thing was across the park. Our d was certainly lacking. We came into the game with the wrong attitude. Up to BA to find out why and sort it out before Thursday

The year the Roosters won in 2018 they lost eight games, to the following teams;

Tigers (finished 9th that year)
Warriors (8th)
Bunnies (3rd)
Dragons (7th)
Broncos (6th)
Storm (2nd)
Raiders (10th)
Broncos (again)

Considering they were minor premiers (and preliminary finalists the year before) how many of those losses were to teams they were 'supposed to beat'? Good teams have off weeks and win, as we have done. They also have off weeks and lose. Our job is to finish in the top four. We do that and we give ourselves a great opportunity to win the comp. If we do it again next year we're an even bigger chance. We're playing the long game, not worrying about one match in Brookvale with a bunch of our best players missing.

That’s what concerns me about BA as coach. We have a great track record of turning to absolute fairies when it matters. Was beginning to think we’re moving on from that, but not so sure. I guess a favourable draw may of given us false hope

A favourable draw?

Edit: You clarified above. Yes, playing at home may have masked some deficiencies.

The oracle Gus Gould has said we can’t win the comp as we are too mentally weak (in the Footy Show today according to Facebook - I don’t watch it).

That is a huge eye-opener - thanks for that, mate.

Just a quick question - the ladder positions that were quoted indicate the position of the team at the end of the regular season, correct?

Is our draw really that favourable?
There are only 5 or 6 teams that will make an impact this year. Us, Storm, Panthers, Roosters, Knights and Raiders.

We have played 4 games against these teams (not the Storm) and lost just the one.
Panthers have played 4 games against these teams (not the Raiders) and have lost 1 and drawn 1.
Roosters have played 4 games against these teams (not the Knights) and lost 3.
Knights have played 4 and have lost 1 and drawn 1.
Storm have played 5 games (incl. Raiders twice) and have lost 2.
Raiders have played 5 games (incl. Storm twice) and have lost 2.

So us, Panthers, Roosters, and Knights have all had a similar draw against the top teams and we have the best results.
I never understood how people thought our draw was easy, I think the perception of playing at Bankwest May contribute to easy draw theory?

Yeah I don’t get how playing at a stadium with no fans that we don’t even train on is an advantage? the only advantage of it is that we stay in Sydney and can keep a similar routine.

Yes, which is a better indicator of the quality of the teams than their position when the Roosters played them, due to having more data.

What if all our games were in Queensland.

I’m not so sure why some aren’t admitting playing at BW is in our favour.

Tigers fans were blowing up deluxe last year when they choose BW as their home ground against the eels.

Absolutely!

I appreciate the stats - it made for very interesting reading!

I was quite surprised to look at the table and see that, in the worst case scenario (ie: Penrith win), we will only drop to second spot - that is huge.

If the Cowboys pull off the upset, we will still be in first place - so it's far from doom, and gloom.

Media perception. I believe someone did an actual strength of schedule and the sharks ended up having the easiest draw at the time of restart, that could be incredibly wrong as I only skimmed the article.

We do have a favourable draw. However I’m assuming all Sydney teams would. So if a bunch of teams have a favourable draw then it ceases to be favourable and more just standard. Thank f*ck though we aren’t one of the teams with an unfavourable draw.

i don’t think we’d be any different position if we’d played every game at Suncorp.

home advantage comes into play with the crowd lifting a team in tight games, with affecting the ref into making calls. There has been no crowds.

The tigers fans were annoyed because they know even when it’s their home game we’ll have more fans there.
