As much as I’ve given shit to Drown & Paulo (that’s more involvement compared to pay cheque) & Kelma, individually I don’t think anyone was especially bad. It was the teamwork in defence (& then chasing offence after we fell apart) that was the culprit.
f**king awful line speed (there was one set especially where we didn’t advance off the 10m mark once in set) across the field. Scum were tearing us on edges, not because the middles weren’t moving across (they weren’t) but because the edges weren’t moving up either. Scum were getting 10 metres to run at a non-moving defence.
We all say defence wins matches and look at Smugs and say wow they give no time to the opposition. We were the antithesis of that today.

I had a real bad feeling about this season. I even cancelled my season tickets after 6 years. Our pack is terrible. It won't be better when Lane and Cartwright come back in.
I don't. I never expected a lot once we decided to to move in a different direction. We all watched the game, our weaknesses were exposed by a well honed Storm team. Ioni impressed me, so did Smith. We will evolve rather than stagnate.

3. Penisini
4. Renisini
5. Lomax
6. Drown
7. Hawkins maybe?
8. Junior

10. Williams
11. Carty
12. Matto
13. Hopgood
14. Smith
15. Doorey

Also we have zero leadership. I didn’t think Gutho was a great leader but there was no communication and no one trying to resolve the problems.
Yep no leadership who was the voice out there today.

Gutho is past it yesterday showed as much.

But we lost our 12 games without Gutho when he was here by an average of 20 points.

If you want to include today that average just got worse.

I thought Iongi was one of our better players

I don’t want to sugarcoat it, because that first half must be the worst half of football I’ve ever seen us play, but there were a few things to like today. Ryley Smith looks decent and his enthusiasm is good. Iongi was pretty sound for the most part, and Penisini and Russell did pretty well together (Penisini particularly had some strong efforts in attack). Other than that, thank god Melbourne eased up in the second half, because that could’ve been overwhelmingly embarrassing, rather than just regular embarrassing.
