Brown had 3 Try Assists yesterday. I suggest that if Daejarn Asi was still here and played instead, he would've also had the exact same 3 Try Assists yesterday. Was Brown's involvement in each of the tries instrumental in the try actually being scored? I suggest no.
Stats can be misleading. He has been shit since 2022 and eternally shit yesterday. He was within a whisker of making the shit list.

His been average by his standards since he signed his last contract.
I reckon it's the team that's been average (or below average in the case of 2024). Drown's personal form has been just as good, given the quality of the team around him.
Ill give you the hot tip he hasn't been on anything under 800k a season since he signed that last contract so don't give me that rubbish just to argue for the sake of it we don't know what he is on.

The SMH even said a month or so ago he was set to be on 900k this year with it to increase gradually until 2031.
I reckon he's worth $900k, rising with a bigger cap. Is he worth the $1.3M supposedly on offer? Probably not, but you'll note it's not the Storm, Panthers or Roosters offering that much. If they were interested they could probably get him cheaper. Hopefully we can too.
I reckon his best season was 2022
Obviously, he was in a fairly strong team. It doesn't mean he's gotten worse since then, it means his opportunities to shine have reduced while his opportunities to fail have increased. That's how everyone looks worse in a poor team and better in a good team.
Just because his stats may look like he is producing a lot of work doesn't mean its quality.
What does 'quality' even mean? It's a narrative applied by human subjectivity. A bloke who tries hard in a loss tried just as hard as the bloke who tries hard in a win. The bloke who makes a difference in a close game hasn't done anything better than the one who does it in a big win. Teams win games, not players. Teams determine whether the game was close at the 75th minute or whether it was over at halftime.
2023 he missed a third of the season on the sideline and i reckon that whole season the Souths victory at Allianz was probably the only game that stood out where he was great.

Did he take a game by the scruff of the neck last year.

We won just 7 games and how many of those did Dylan contribute heavily in. I would argue Asi played better in a couple there at the backend of the year

Plus there were a chunk of close losses where Dylan didn't close out.

If your paying a bloke more then 800k he needs to be changing games more then what Dylan does.
In such a poor defensive side it's hardly on a spine player that he couldn't outscore the opposition. They were playing against Parra's defence and Dylan Brown was usually playing against a much better defence. It's a team game. Drown has an outsized contribution to our attack, in line with his position and his pay, and you could hardly say he is a weak link in our defence.

@Poupou Escobar is just playing devils advocate trolling in his own forum again. Deep down he also wants him gone. He said it a few months ago or was it that he couldn’t be f**ked either way, yet he will still argue one side just to piss people off.

Is that the MO?
What I want is irrelevant. We are discussing the decisions made by the people with the power to make those decisions. But for the record, I want him to stay, I just don't want to have to overpay for that to happen. Dylan Brown is an awesome player, but it's possible to pay too much for anyone.

He isn’t going to stay and take a $400k paycut. He’s a bigger idiot than I thought he was if he does.

Oh dear... do you read this shit before you type it (or copy it from some fluffer's website)?
The bloke who makes a difference in a close game hasn't done anything better than the one who does it in a big win.
Other than make a difference when it is most needed... not just generically try hard in context-free stats world.
Teams win games, not players. Teams determine whether the game was close at the 75th minute or whether it was over at halftime.
And perhaps the position of Uranus is more likely to have an influence... but we need an experiment with a control group (planet) just to be 100% sure!

He might stay if there are TPAs on offer here.

He might stay of he doesn't want to go to Newcastle for 10 years and just backs himself at the Eels or get a big contract at the end of the next PO.

Or a combo.

Or as @Soren Lorenson said, the Newcastle offer doesn't exist because they need Ponga to do A, B or C first.

You don't get to just reallocate cap space when you decide a player is no longer worth it. The length of a contract is part of his cost/risk to the club. How well do you think recruitment/retention would go if you just offered everyone one year deals tAkE iT oR lEaVe It!!!

What are you on about now. They where stupid contracts to begin with and these are the ones f**king our squad. These are the players we need to cut lose as soon as we can.
Regardless I am just pointing out where put issues are.

What would you say is the attraction here over the Knights if he was to knock back $400k a year?

There's not one quote in there that confirms the offer is official.

Knights recruitment guru Peter O’Sullivan has reportedly confirmed the club won’t rescind their mammoth contract offer to Dylan Brown after the Eels’ dismal Round 1 display.

Newcastle have reportedly tabled a $13 million, 10 year deal to recruit the gun five-eighth, hoping to partner him up with superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga.

I would advise my son to think very carefully if he wants to be bound to a club for 10 years. Lots of players like DCE and Tomolololo do it, but they STAY at the club they love. Dylan has to go to a club that he knows nothing about and could be a cellar dweller for each of those 10 years. Money isn't everything.

And what would you say if we'd offer the same to Ponga?
