Bench rotation:
20min Matterson for Greig
28min Makatoa for Paulo
30min Cartwright for Hopgood
53min Hopgood for Makatoa
54min Hands for Hodgson - should have been earlier
57min Paulo for Davey
65min Greig for Matterson - weird, but seems pre-planned
72min Davey for Moses (HIA) - forced, but should have been Hodgson, but BA let him play too many minutes to start with
73min Matterson for Greig - probably in recognition that without Moses we needed Matto out there and/or Greig was gassed?

Minutes played:
80 Lane
72 Moses (HIA)
65 Davey - too many for first NRL game in a while?
57 Hopgood
54 Hodgson - too many fullstop
52 Matterson (from bench) - not enough for someone who should be forward leader?
51 Paulo - not enough mins/form when he needs to step up in RCG's absence
50 Cartwright (from bench) - I prefer when Carty starts
28 Greig - not sure he had 15mins more in him at the end, strange usage
26 Hands (from bench) - not enough
25 Makatoa (from bench) - capable of some more mins imo

We are 4 wins from 10 games. Make no mistake. This was a bad loss.
The other five losses weren't bad losses, or they all are? We've had plenty worse losses than this, including the first ever Magic Round. This was a two point away loss to team that has played fairly well this year.

When you’re sitting on 4/9 and come up against a team that you’re expected to beat comfortably to get your season back on track and you lose then it’s a bad loss.

Agreed, but we have also been unlucky. Most years it comes out in the wash. In 2020 we had more than our share of luck and this year we have had less.

Luck shouldn’t have been a factor tonight. Just looking at the stats will tell you that it’s a game we should have won if we played our cards right.

I think luck is a factor in every game. In a two point game it is likely to be a more significant factor than if one team wins by 40.

In a game where a team completes at 85%, makes almost 400 more metres and more line breaks tells me that we didn’t play smart despite dominating the significant factor areas.

Dance with the one that brung ya.
We are stuck with him for the time being at least.

Rein, Yates and even Hands arent the answers unfortunately.
dance with the one that brung ya?

Where did he bring us? What’s he ever done for us to deserve such loyalty?

I’m not sure you know what that means

I'm not making excuses, I'm reminding you that losses are a normal part of any season. Don't read too much into them.
You are right - no one should read into losses as there is nothing you can learn from them.

you are nothing but a troll and there is no way you are an actual parramatta supporter

you will get such a kick out of this post

So what is good about him?
He can't run the ball anymore , his defense is below average, he isnt creating line break or trys and he is getting in the way. Guthersons intercept come from a stupid attempt to run by Hodgson where he gave the defense time to set. We had them shot.
I think he is well and truly cooked
This is completely correct

Hodgson was an absolute handbrake tonight and has been that and worse all season.

I am convinced that anyone who continues to spruik his retention is motivated by something other than a desire to see the eels win.

Perhaps they know him personally, perhaps they are desperate to support the coach no matter what, perhaps they just like to be different…or perhaps they just want to troll Eels fans like Pou.

Either way, after ten games there is no one who can seriously suggest that Hodgson improves our chances of winning a first grade game.

Took a spot. He’s not a shit player but it’s just so random that we signed him and then he just walks in the side above players who were actually performing. Weird.
I don’t know what Doorey did wrong, was at the game with 3 friends and one of them ask what’s happened to Doorey is he injured. Because he said he’s been impressive from what he’d saw. Isaid I have no idea he might of contracted Nathan Brown disease.

There is some serious cope in this post. Seriously you should try and get a gig on Bea Arthur’s coaching staff. You are as deluded as they are I bet they would welcome you with open arms.

We haven’t been unlucky, you make your own luck and we’ve deserved none of it. Our appalling defence all season is why we are 4 from 10. None of that has to do with luck.

Is it your opinion (this isn’t a gotcha) that a) what he showed before this season warranted a starting hooker position (ignore Hodgson) and b) his performances this year were always going to occur?
No, not a starting hooker role, or a starting 6 or 7 role either but as a #14 who could cover any of those positions at a pinch. As late as September last year I think he was unsigned for this year and I commented a couple of times back then that he was someone we should have been looking at. We'd be in a better spot to replace Moses next week v the Raiders if we had him in our squad than having to bring in JA or whoever else we throw in there. His form this year I don't think anyone saw coming. He's probably the cheapest starting halfback in the comp and kicking goals as well. Stroke of luck for the Titans....
