I thought Fergo was outstanding - I caught him revving the team up before half time, and the way he looked after Matto was a true veteran move.

He is brilliant - and his put down for his no try was absolutely filthy.

Moses was rusty, but good - once he gets his game fitness back, he will be even better

Mahoney was outstanding - played some real heads up footy, gave crisp service, and tackled his arse off.

Harry Grant is a gun, but I wouldn't swap him for Grant, tbh - I thought Grant was flashy, but Mahoney plays a game that will get you wins.

I felt Mahoney took some bad option a few times. He also needs to support a little more and just run when gets ball from an offload. He is playing more confident and like a leader though.

We have the best front row pairing in the comp, hands down.

Melbourne have the best front rower individually, but as a pair, nobody beats Paulo, and RCG.

Nikauore is the guy who impresses me. Takes off fast and his PCM are insane. Also a quick play the ball and excellent defense. He needs more minutes.
Slowly he climbs closer to N.Brown starting spot.

He’s behind

Smith
Friend
Korisau
Grant
Cook

he’s not even in their league to be honest. He probably mid table. Not saying he’s a terrible player but def overrated by our fans. I like his desire but needs to Inprove his running game. And tonight his passing game was poor again.

Agree bar Jake Friend. Mahoney above him. I dont rate Friend anymore.

Mahoney and Grant are both leap years ahead of Friend.

I also believe Mahoney is ahead of Grant on experience, defence and kicking game.

If Grant was not on loan linked to Cam Smith he’d be getting 2% of the media attention he gets now. He offers no more than Mahoney other then a better running game.

I’d have Smith, Api, Hodgson & Cook ahead of Mahoney.

Imagine Grant though behind our pack. In saying that segyaroo was same. Untill teams worked him out. Let's see Harry in 2 yrs.

This farming cheeses me if,,,...

BA needs to tell Paulo not to offload on every occasion. Smart teams are stripping whenever Jnr turns in the tackle but the refs are deeming it a loose carry. Its costing us at least two errors in each match when possession is absolutely crucial.
A great coach would get him to run straight and hard and occasionally offload

Why BA ???

Agree. He needs games where doesnt offload just to keep the unpredictable

Agree with his decision making last night and last week. Poor choices at especially in their 20m.
But I disagree that he should just run if he gets an offload, it’s not always the best thing. Last week Drown made a half break and got a quick play the ball on the 4th and Reed immediately made a dart for 15m down the middle of the field. Sure it looks good but Manlys defence wasn’t set out wide, no guarantee it would’ve resulted in better play but more importantly by having Drown and Reed tackled consecutively (and I’m pretty sure Gutho was the dummy half on Reed’s tackle) it takes out most of your playmakers. But also more importantly we haven’t had too much trouble making metres this season (a small part of which is Reeds ruck work) so dummy half runs for cheap metres isn’t a dire need, so I’d be using second phase plays as opportunities to score over making metres

Fergo is the best hit up winger bar none. Runs straight, makes metres, consistently gets on the other side of the tacklers and has one of the fastest play the balls. If he is going through the motions, I look forward to what he can do when he tries

Sorry mate, never did I say he’s not one of best or doesn’t run straight. I agree with all that. Just think last night he was lacking his power and like I’ve already said I’m not being critical because he still may be feeling the effects of a bung knee. Just trying to point out the many eels fans seem to overrate players and their performances.

Re: Mahoney's running game, or lack thereof, I think he is playing the way BA wants him to play. Our attack is based on Moses and Brown getting the ball quickly and then directing the play. Can you imagine the Tigers attack if they had to rely on Benji and Walters?

I think Reed and Gutho do have a licence to run from dummy half when the opportunity presents.

On Grant, he was noticeably quiet in the second half once we gained the ascendency. His style is good when his team is going forward and markers give him room, which we inexplicably did for the first 20 minutes.

Agree. I believe BA wants to attack thru the halves and wants quick/good service from reed. I also believe if reed chose to run he’d be a much more potent Dummy half.

I’d be happy if he took lanes starting spot

Perhaps I do overrate them but honestly you must have got a different telecast from me last night because I saw Fergo do everything I described

Marata is a savage. Love what he is doing atm but Nrown is the most underrated player in the game. How his name never comes up for SOO is beyond me. His play speed and enthusiasm is unmatched. Plays like that kick chase late in the game to force the error from mbye is what changes a games momentum

Agree his kick returns were better than Sivo last night
In my opinion, Sivo has never been an extremely strong kick returner from within our 40. He has been able to look better than he is if he manages to get outside his man or with an isolated defender that enables him to use his palm off with effect, but when just hitting it back into a set defensive line, his value is actually his ability to either secure a penalty or a relatively quick play the ball.

Inside our attacking zone, with the ball in hand, he is a beast however.

Just on Nofoaluma. I think he has created a new stat - post tackle metres. Dude played the ball 2-3m in front of where he got tackled almost every time. He even pushed one of the markers at one point (not even tackling him at the time) out of the way to do so and still complained. Growing a bit of dislike for the pretty boy
