Interesting move, not really sure how I feel about it. Our season is not gone, and having Soward's experience against a weakened Manly team would be good. It was a strange game for him against the Storm. Defensivley, yes a liability and was exposed, but his involvement (or lack of) in attack is what was strange. When Martin came into first grade he didn't get many touches at all and Jamie carried the bulk of it. Maybe the decision has been made that it is time for a changing of the play makers.. I have a feeling Sowie may still play, but will be interesting what happens if we get flogged (and doesn't play), does he get called back in? or if we win convincingly, is that it for Soward and James? Lots of (potential) talent/experience in reserve grade this week!

Wow. No sooner did I post that this is no time to mess with the halves, than the coach does exactly that. Sowie doesn't have a history of fighting back from being dropped, so we will see.

The side has had defensive problems, we'll see if they are now in any way overcome.

Mate you can't just carry a liability like Soward who has offered nothing but a pretty good kicking game most weeks.

Moylan to 6, DWZ to 1, Yeo to 3, Blake to 5, Cartwright to 12

The other question is, who will kick for goal. I'm thinking Cleary, but there's Moylan, Wallace and Cartwright as well. To be fair, Cartwright was never a world-beater in the goal kicking dept.

Cleary is by far the best goal kicker out of these 3.

Farewell cat in the hat.

He tried but after gronk and smith gave us a lesson on real football class last week it did show Sowie up as not being up to that level consistantly anymore.

Who knows what we will do ?

Really missing two starting centres is hurting now.

But the scum have dce and the brat out plus a forward or two so its time we belted a team.

Mate he has plenty of faults but making a big call is not one of them. Re Seggy are we sure it's personal? Wallace is simply a more effective hooker for us.

Apparently it was over doing some rows at training that Segs didn't want to that started it all. I hope it was a lot of form involved too though.

Good team really, I'm going to hope there's some shuffling in the forwards before kick off though.

Kicking will be the issue, we'll just have to see how Cleary handles it.

Something had to be done, and this has as good a chance as anything of working. I don't know that Griffin has the coaching talent for success at this level, the year so far and our lack of improvement makes me think not, but this is at least a reason to hope. What can't be said about Griffin is that he's in denial or afraid to make tough calls.

Soward is a loss kicking wise, play making though not in the slightest, he's produced f**k all tries for a long stretch of games now. The only less dangerous half is Wallace.

That isn't a question. Cleary is a metronome when it comes to kicking. He might even be a better kicker than his Dad.

Well its never dull being a Penrith fan.

With Edwards travelling to Melbourne as cover for Moylan/Mansour he is clearly on Griffins radar. I'm not sure a Moylan/Cleary halves pairing would be the time to debut him though. I don't think we need to rush him when DWZ deserves a decent shot at it before he looks elsewhere for a number one jumper and Gennings is in some good form in ISP.

Congrats to big Moses. Has been killing it and it gives Kikau more time to push his claims.

I hope we run out with

1. DWZ 2. Mansour 3. Peachey 4. Blake 5. Gennings 6. Moylan 7. Cleary 8. RCG 9. Wallace 10. Latu 11. Cartwright 12. Yeo 13. Merrin 14. Matagi 15. Latimore 16. Leota 17. Grevsmuhl

Just put Edwards on the wing, DWZ at fullback and Moylan in the halves. We might as well.

Peachey/Cartwright/Wallace in the halves is a complete waste of time.

I wouldn't have dropped Soward in the first place, but if it is going to happen, we should just go all in. Why not? This season is a write-off.

I'm assuming Soward has those moments where he needs to be in a different place to sort himself out gamewise.

Griffin could be taking advantage of this game to try out a Cleary and Carty combo, and see how it goes from there.

Proof of the puddin' is in the eatin',and if this is a good taste,we might just get a second serving.

Cartwright has dominated in the halves and it'll be great to see him there after the unthreatening straight running games he's had lately.

Lock and Prop isn't much different these days, just means your playing in the middle.

Yeah Id be surprised if he got a start at prop. Our defence through the middle is terrible and Matagi might be our worst middle defensive player. Latu and RCG aren't particularly stong defenders, Merrin isn't either tbh but he is better than Matagi.

No extended bench, does that mean Akioula will actually play? The poor guy has been named five times and only managed to get 20 minutes.
