Then you’ve missed the tries and line breaks he’s created, the solid defence, the high involvement that has taken pressure off his team mates. He’s doing better than every other half in reserve grade. He is the perfect backup.
Well they were pretty gash last game Poo and from my untrained eye the 6 definitely outplayed the 7.

To determine the players path at the time of passing you need enough data points (i.e. to be able to measure their position precisely at very high frequency). It's fine if they are running straight at relatively constant velocity (i.e. the 2nd derivative is small or zero), because you could measure position even 1 second apart and get a good estimate of velocity at the time of passing. That's quite different to a situation in traffic where a player is simultaneously changing direction and starting the act of passing. Again, part of the issue comes down to the fact that the rule (and supporting notes) have been written in an ad hoc and piecemeal fashion.
Video frame rate is usually 25 frames per second. Shouldn't be a problem with resolution, especially when multiple cameras are employed from a few different angles. It may need a setup different to what it used now but it can certainly be done with available technology right now.

Love how you pretend that you watch any lower grade matches.
I've managed to watch a few this season, the second half of the dogs game for instance and he has been a non entity in what i've seen. I've seen no evidence of him carving up like Pou Pou Hyperbole was claiming.

I don't know what they do exactly. Looking at hand movement is useless because would only work if the passer was exactly facing the try line. It is much simpler.

Suppose Waqa Blake was steaming down the sideline at 18 kph which we know can be accurately measured. That's the same as 5m per second. He passes the ball inside. Now if the receiver catches the ball 1 second later and is more than 5m in front of where it was thrown then the pass must be forward. Technology already exists to make these measurements and a simple application of a bit of trig and no more forward passes missed.

You'd also need to account for deceleration, curve degradation, ball angle attitude and spin and the quantity and quality of that sticky spray they use

How many times do I have to tell you about not cherry picking one game to suit your story?
I dont have stories mate. I have opinions not anti opinions and I reply based on my opinions without agendas.
That aside Ive had a listen to a Podcast called "Fifth and Last". Not bad. Check it out.
