How many games should we use?
If two games is better than one can you think of a better number than two? Jake Arthur has played seven games in reserve grade this year. Why not look at all of them? It won’t tell the whole story but it will tell you a lot more than in one game where we got flogged.

Sure, once you've got the inputs, the output's a breeze.
If a cricket ball travelling at 160 kph can have its trajectory analysed for LBW amongst magnus effect, wind, swing and pitch imperfections, a footy would be a walk in the park.

Yeah I'd reckon it'd be the other way around, it wouldn't be all that difficult to plot a cricket balls trajectory given there's a lot less variables and the ball is (relatively) round.

It'd be similar and simpler if they were merely tracking whether the ball travelled forward or not in relation to the try-line, it's the travel in relation to the movement of the the player passing the ball that complicates things.

Yes, it isn't a particularly different problem. Bandy just likes to argue about anything and everything..
I don't believe several of the things mentioned like wind or the shape of the ball will even need to be taken into account to get a high degree of accuracy as the answer will come from tracking the passing motion. And for that the ball is in the player's hands.

He’s saying you should use all 7 games that he’s played. Don’t cherry pick.
I understand that. But if he had terrible stats over 7 games, Pou would say is to small a sample size, which it is. What I want to know from Pou is what number of games for a coach/player is a big enough sample size. But he would never commit to anything like that. He wouldn't be able to bend his argument to suit when that number rolled around.
