We we're obviously dreadful.

The final scoreline probably flattered us I feel. We were dead set woeful and deserved to have 50 put on us, although a lot of tries were scored whilst Paulo and Hopgood were off the field too.

To be honest, not only did we appear to expect it, we got what we deserved with that level of commitment as a result.

We also probably needed that result. Hopefully we learnt a few things from all of this.

Lane will be better for the run. Simonsson went OK at times.

Let's just hope Gutho doesn't get a HIA, sin-binned or injured. It's hard to fathom just how much of an absolute rabble we become without him.
Or is he just drastically underrated?

I'm not too bothered by this loss. I half expected it tbh and it's why I picked the Warriors in my footy tips.
It just goes to show how much a difference Gutho and Moses make to our team.
We'll be back big-time next week.
Onwards and upwards.
The NRL should be bothered. They seem to be content with offering such embarrassing games like the one we just witnessed for the sake of their golden SOO egg. The Eels v Warriors clash should have been billed as a heavyweight game but all we got was a one sided shitfest. I absolutely feel for the fans who spent their hard earned on tonight’s game and other SOO affected games like it. It’s been going on since it’s inception but it’s become a glaring blight on the game, imo.

it was a terrible signing. Not for the injuries but the fact he is just “average Joe” he’s got nothing.

Moretti has showed something in all his games. I like him. Hopefully crap signings like JOffa don’t force him out

It's stupid if we are paying anywhere near what he was getting at the Tigers.

They were desperate to sign him and desperate to let him go.

We still need to resign Greig and Cartwright.

I agree 100% weeks ago I had this game slated in to attend until our players got picked for SOO.

The NRL still bends to Niens demands.

Not underrated to me, but it's difficult to comprehend he has that much influence on our front line defence.

Over 1/5th of our entire points against us this season have occurred in only the 105 minutes Gutho hasn't been on the field for us.

Perhaps the most influential player on a team in the entire NRL.

It reflects defensive effort to get numbers into the tackle and (legally) slow the ruck. As an example, here's Paulo vs Ofahengaue right now (about the 72nd minute). One has chased the collision better than the other:

MerkinTacklesMinutesTackles per minute
Ofahengaue26360.72
Paulo16450.36

The fewer tackles per minute by a middle defender, the more space he is leaving for attackers to isolate other defenders, and make line breaks or get quick play-the-balls.
That’s a lazy stat and takes no account for possession when on the field. That’s going to play a massive part in tackles per minute.

I still think we can win the premiership this year. We had our halfback, five-eight, fullback, and best prop-foward out (all origin or origin-level players). Against a very good side.

If we get Reg Gutho and Moses back fit plus Brown back in 3 weeks. We should be in a good position.

Lane will have been getting back to match fitness as well.

I think so too however given our poor start we will struggle to finish top 4 and history suggest you need to be top 4 to win.
Would have been nice to be a bit more competitive bit oh well on to next week

simos form is impressive and Lane will be better for the run

I can’t see us doing it but to be fair we’ve never had our best 17 on the field in any game so far this year. Maybe we just need some luck.
