Those times are hard to compare. He played against guys who where not full time athletes. So it was easy to train harder and be better based on that alone. Nowdays everyone in the NRL trains just as hard as each other. And are at their peak strength.
Far harder to make breaks and look good.

Semi is by far the best I've seen. But just didn't play long enough. He should have been the first winger to get almost 1 mill.
You reckon Too would’ve dominated in a period where likewise he wouldn’t have been a fulltime athlete?

Too for mine at end of career will only rank in top 10 for Smugs and some rugby league nerds. 99% of other fans will barely remember him 5-10 years after he retires. He’s a perfect winger for his time but otherwise hardly memorable

That's the thing with that period. Some guys where probably at best 85% of peak while others where 50% and playing against each other
In the current game id say most are at 95-100% of their peak.

Yes I was taking piss with To'o. He is a great player but he isn't running 90mtrs like Semi

That was my question, do you think Too would be an 85% or 50% in the less professional era?

Wingers making 200mtrs+ a game who constantly break tackles are rare and i feel they have a larger impact on a game. Fast, good finishers are a fairly common and Coates is getting great opportunities.
Even if Lomax plays poor he clocks up 200mtrs. And forces 1-2 mistakes from chasing the bomb. He is Brian's biggest challenger I think. Kiraz isn't far behind but.
My top 3

1 Too
2 Lomax
3 Kiraz
To'o doesn't do much highlight reel stuff, which means he doesn't stand out to most observers. This also means he should never be in the conversation for greatest winger of all time. But his massive contribution to Penrith's go forward means he is, for mine, the best winger in the game currently. For big plays it's Coates for sure, but he doesn't contribute as much as To'o over 80 minutes.
