Rd26: EELS v Panthers GAME DAY THREAD @ BlueBet Stadium 24/8/23

Just watching the interviews in the changerooms and I reckon complacency was our biggest problem this year. From Matto’s decision to sit out the first 4 games to, to Drowns selfish decision to party and be an f**kwit, to RCG’s and Sivo’s stupidity, to our conservative approach to the game, we’ve found ourselves where we are. We simply thought it would just happen. All of the above, and more importantly the coaching staff, recruitment committee and administration need to be held accountable.

The only way I could think of to perhaps initiate some change was to cancel my auto renewal. I love this club and if I thought it was heading in the right direction, I’d keep my auto renewal membership. You may not believe me, but this was the saddest email I’ve ever written.

Despite an epic win against the premiership favourites, watching down at the snow, after beers and some very decent wine, I’m just left disappointed.

Mate, we've been dominating in the first 20min for many weeks since Origin. We earnt the right but didnt offload or play expansive and then got lapped coz we couldnt keep it going playing the Power Game.

That's the biggest bullshit I've ever read., Fair enough you hate Arthur but talk some sense before running your mouth. At no stage have we dominated and not gone on with it. Even if you do win the first 20, you as a team aren't going to dominate the scoreboard. We were in the games then lost our discipline in attack and defence... Dropped ball, late tackle penalties and late tackle sets again. The question is why can we be up for a penrith game again but can't get up for a roosters game... Thats solely on the players

His defence will be wasted though mate, he’s the best defensive half in the game. He’s good enough to play nearly everywhere.

Of course. When we are shit its the coaches fault. When we are good its because of the players.

Can we agree it’s an absolute shit show from the coaching staff and playing group? If so, who earns their wage this year?
My candidates who didn’t are: Paulo, BA, Matto, Drown, Murph, Sivo, Hodgson, moimosea and Murphy. You just can’t carry that many under performing players and expect to waltz into the finals.

The simple fact is we dont score when we play conservative... Today, we showed when we are flamboyant after dominating, we score and simple thing is, they have to kick off and give us the ball back.

When we dont score because we play percentages, we do break like you say and then we get flogged.

I think they have us covered on talent.

They have more QLDERs in their side who have a smaller selection pool than NSW so it’s no surprise to see them have more origin players than us (who have more NSW based players). We have them covered in the spine and our forwards can more than match theirs so I’m not sure how they’re more talented than us.

I fully disagree in your argument and I say that as a 10 year coach myself. But every supporter should be able to say what they think... So I respect that. I watched the game with my old man tonight who has been a parra supporter since he was born. He is an old fella and absolutely hates gutho doing the short kick offs, through much explaining to him he won't come around
