I think from an attacking perspective we have the best forwards in the comp, by a fair margin, but defensively they are mid-tier. Our spine is maybe top five. Outside backs are bottom eight at best, maybe bottom four. The salary cap should lead to teams with strengths and weaknesses, and this is the case with Parramatta.
I’d take our overall backline i.e. 1-5 over the Tigers, Dragons, Bulldogs, Dolphins, Titans and Sea Eagles and have us pretty closely matched with the Raiders, Warriors, Cowboys and Storm.

Our backline next year:

1 Brown
2 Russell
3 Pensini
3 Gutho
5 Sivo
6. Lynn / Sanders
7. Moses

If Brown can be taught over the off season the details of playing fullback he would most likely be the X factor we are seeking. At the moment he’s inconsistent at 5/8. Fullback is where he would be forced to be involved. He’s definitely got the fitness, speed, elusive running game. As we saw yesterday in his little cameo he wasn’t afraid to contest the highball.

take guth away from our backline and those sides jump us imo.
Gutho is in our backline. There’s no reason to arbitrarily exclude him. Penisini is an above average attacking player as well and although Sivo had a poor season I think sometimes we can be guilty of taking him for granted with how he can finish off tries average wingers would struggle to (eg As we’ve seen from Simonsson when he plays on the wing).

I fully disagree in your argument and I say that as a 10 year coach myself. But every supporter should be able to say what they think... So I respect that. I watched the game with my old man tonight who has been a parra supporter since he was born. He is an old fella and absolutely hates gutho doing the short kick offs, through much explaining to him he won't come around
And that's fair. We have ppl here who sit on either sides of the fence and thats why we're here, to view the ads and post our perspectives. It doesn't really matter anyway as it goes into the ether.

BA won't be reading the forum to coach the team.

It's more for the journalists to find juicy tidbits.

I don't hate Arthur. I think he comes across as a very decent guy.. However, I think we need a change and he's like the titanic... Too slow to react.

each game i watch, the more it makes me think that

Whilst you might get more outta Drown at fullback, you lose more than you gain by playing Gutho at centre. The King is not an 800k odd centre. But he is one of the Best fullbacks in the game.

What we need is for Drown to live up to his potential at 5/8, it isn't the position that is holding him back.

Maybe its earlier finish then normal but hard to comprehend the season is already over.

I have been away for a couple of months i missed a fair chunk of week-to-week footy outside of following Parra might have something to do with it.

But it still hasn't sank in we wont have another premiership game give or take around 196 days.

Its a long 28 weekends of no Parra.

At least being on here keeps us all entertained during the low points following this club

All of that is pretty subjective, but it would be hard to say that all three teams don't have better 9s, outside backs, edge forwards, and benches in their Top 17. I'd say they all have more depth too.

None of the four teams including us have had decent seasons. Something clearly went a miss with all

I reckon the Dolphins coming in has corrupted and made the draw more uneven. But helped the bottom 8 teams from last year jump up.

Weather it was potluck or design by the NRL.

Most of the top teams from last year i believe were given slightly harder draws based off ladder position last year.

Outside of Covid 2020 - basically since 2007 you have played 9 teams twice and only 6 teams once.

This year the number of teams you only played once jumped to 8. Which is half the competition compared to previously was only 40%.

So you have basically lost 2 extra games you may have got against an easier or harder opponent depending on luck of the draw.

Look at Canberra they got 6 games against the bottom 3 sides (Tigers, Bulldogs, Dragons)

Roosters, Cowboys, & Parra only got 4 games against those same sides.

Those 2 extra games against those sides has basically gifted them a spot in the 8 they dont deserve with there garbage F/A.

This was also the first season since the Wests Tigers were created in 2000 - Parramatta have not had a home game against them - which is one of our biggest drawing home games. Bad luck perhaps no guarantee of a victory but might have helped.

Lot of "if only" after that performance. However, given we would be without Moses and Gutho not 100% we had no chance in the finals.
If only
- Ryan Matterson copped a suspension not a fine - Thanks Matto i hope you enjoy 4k on a early holiday.
- Mitchell Moses could kick straight in the close games - Lost 4 games from goal kicking that's 33% of our losses. Thanks Mitch hopefully those clutch kicks happen more regularly next year.
- Parramatta hadn't sold a home game to Darwin - I hope the money was well spent and Jim Sarantinos and the executives team enjoyed a paid expenses trip to the territory. Certainly could have done with an extra home game at Fortress commbank.
- Grant Atkins didnt screw us over in Canberra - Thanks Grant for a stellar performance with the whistle and making Ricky happy.
- Dylan Brown hadn't gone out and played up on a bye weekend in Double Bay so copped a criminal charge & 7 week ban.
- Brad Fittler didnt screws us over for a crucial home game for a dead rubber origin - ending his feud with RCG and picking for Gutho for 3 f**king mins.
- RCG kept his feet and didnt knee a bloke in the back and didn't cop a month suspension.
- BA could figure out how to get this side to have ruthless attitude 80% of time not 50% of the time.

His presser said it all for me, we just needed to win one more game. Really Brad??? Happy to slip into 8th??? Which means you are absolutely no chance to win a comp from back there. I'll keep saying it the standards at this club are absolutely embarrassing.
