It's not luck if you're creating more opportunities to put up bombs. If it's a 4 or 5 to 1 chance that means you're averaging a try for every four or five bombs you put up. Pretty good odds. Plus the opposition might make a mistake trying to defuse it, so even if you don't score you can build pressure. Over 80 minutes it's a good tactic. Over a season it's a no brainer. It's no coincidence the premiers are always one of the best kicking teams.
No one said it isn't a good tactic, Hindy was just pointing out that being able to bamboozle and prise open a strong defensive structure with ball in hand is the mark of a team that have mastered their offensive abilities more so then the lottery that kicks can be even when you have great kickers in the team.
Our ineptness with the ball in hand when in the red zone surely troubles even you? You can't be that blinkered, can you? And don't give me stats on this one, this is more then just stats. They can only tell a partial story. Observation is crucial here and the calibre of defenses and what we did with the ball.
