BA's presser was as embarrassing as the performance.

Effort was there didn't really feel like 40 points out there conceded. We weren't soft.

Just need to get the fundamentals right and flush the performance down the drain.
That just shows he’s got nothing left. Any suggestion that this was anything approaching an acceptable performance is so far off base, but that seems to be the tenor of it. He’s truly clueless now, it’s time to go.

And congrats to Pou.

I’m happy for you. Put the leave request in, send the family to the in laws for a week and stock up on trucker speed and blister treatments - this may be the week you have been waiting your whole life for!

It is going to be like a grand final every day for you.
This game day thread will reach 75 pages by Wednesday.

It's already sitting on 40.

If they weren't making an effort they wouldn't be gassed. The problem is our game relies on completing sets and kicking long, and we are doing neither thing well.

If long kicking is our win condition, it makes zero sense running with Talagi, especially on the right or whatever way you want to skin it.

Sanders may be one of only a handful of players that have a long kick like Moses. Not only this, it opens up playing Brown on the right to have kick options either side of the ruck to mitigate pressure.

Also, Browns kick chase effectiveness has been drastically reduced by having him float from left to right, kick, try to chase (when even the best in Moses sits back) and then return to his defensive position.

Moses kick is the ying to Browns’ chase yang.

If the long kick was the win condition as you suggest, you play Sanders left and Brown right.

The problem with your take is that the long kick wasn’t our win condition. Sanders would be a more astute selection than Talagi but we lost that match in a multitude of other areas.

I also don’t agree with your take on the team being gassed. It was a 16 degree night where they didnt display any line speed. Getting run over may have led to fatigue later, but it certainly wasn’t the catalyst.

We changed our technique after 2018 when we won the spoon.

In 2017 we had Brett O"Farrell as our wrestling coach and we slowed the game a lot which was Melbourne like.

In 2018 we caught out with the crackdown that season and became the most penalised side.

So BA has had this mantra ever since I have heard him mention 40 or 50 times since then to be displinced around the ruck and not give penalties away which in turn means we don't lay all over them and push the envelope in the ruck.
There are many more penalties given when the attacker is on the ground than when hes held up and being pushed back. Our technique is old hat. Nothing ever changes. Anyway only 2 more years of BA is probably the best we can hope for.

Seriously, is he scared of upsetting his players? Why the f**k is he mollycoddling grown men?

He has the dressing sheds. They haven’t shown him respect the last two weeks, but he is the one they want in charge. Their support may be the only thing that’s keeping him at the helm.
