WTF are you on about? All I said was that you have to factor in the half time break when you’re discussing minutes played. The fact players like Hopgood can’t play 40 minutes straight doesn’t mean they don’t provide value. However, Hodgson provides little value at all and really only serves the purpose of limiting the minutes of our much better alternative in Hands.
Hands has shown nothing from dummy half whereas Hodgson has the runs on the board. Just the way he engages the markers shows his footy nous. He creates space for the first receiver. Hands is no doubt quicker but he is very passive on both sides of the ball. He is rarely first into contact, for example. He doesn't chase the collision. It's easy to complete your tackles when you're second or third man in. But I think he's decent and worth a top 30 spot. However, talking him up just to support your desire to rissole the scapegoat is disingenuous.

Anyways nice to book the two points, if we can beat the Dogs next week we'll be just outside the eight and our season start, whilst still poor, won't be looking so grim.

Had to watch the game late last night due to circumstances, but did read this thread beforehand. So I thought we would be worse than we were.

No way we beat a decent side on that performance. Very worrying signs for this season. We have shown we can lift for big games, but get dragged down against teams we should easily put away.

Like most here, I think Hodgson has to go. We simply can't afford to go around with him again next year.

BA also deserves criticism for our defence. We simply cannot control the ruck, even when we do play well. We can't win a comp until our defence improves. I don't understand how other sides can improve over one off season yet we still have the same issues after 10 years with several defence coaches.

It’s just bad luck and a lack of resources.

Yeah I think people are seeing (or not seeing) things in Hands simply because Hodgson has been awful. Hands has been fine and better than Hodgson but he has a ton of things to fix up

A few on here saw Dunster in NSW CUP and said not ready.
What I don't understand was BA after 3yrs decided Waqa was a winger and no good at centres. So why didn't he train the whole off season there catching bombs.
It makes zero sense. He then puts him back to centre after he thought he was no good there after 3yrs.
I'm stumped. But still Waqa is a better option then Haze unfortunately. Take away all the errors Haze look nervous and like he didn't trust his knee yet. Needs to get his confidence in NSW CUP. He almost cost us our season.

Agree. HANDS is defending well and a big body. But he hasn't shown anything in attack.

I'd give Hodgson another 5 -6 games. If he doesn't improve we have no choice but to drop him and run with Hands for 60mins and perhaps Hopgood or JA for 20.
I'd say if Hodgson doesn't come good it probably won't matter who we run with. Our season will be shot by then.

Wait, you and @hineyrulz who liked your post actually want Waqa back in firsts ? Even after his game against park footy players was probably his worst game ever in an eels jumper ? Am I missing the sarcasm?

You can see Hayze is not ready, I felt sorry for him yesterday I hope it doesn’t dint his confidence. Wanker should have been dropped ages ago it would be nice if we had someone capable of doing a job in the top 30. Shame that spot is being wasted by Sam L who can’t even get a crack in Flegg lol.

BA is probably like, Waqa, you're playing winger, practice catching bombs. Then he leaves it up to him as he's the professional.

Waqa, probably just sits there listening to his earphones.

Later on, BA : Who was catching practice? Waqa : Pretty good brah. BA: good.

Brian Smith:

have you practiced catching yet?

5 mins later : have you practiced catching yet?
5 mins later : have you practiced catching yet?
5 mins later : have you practiced catching yet?

As I said in off-season Waqa had to train as a winger if it is where BA though his best spot was in our biggest ever game the Grand final. Makes no sense why he changed his tune. If is was those dropped balls that's what the off season was for. 50 bombs a day and let him practise.

I think we need the defense first. TBH, start with Hands, get the defense in order. Win the ruck.

Then maybe throw on Hodgo to do some craftiness like Api did at panfers.

So knowing who you have available for selection, who would you pick on the wing next week ? I get that Dunster had zero preparation after a rolled ankle, but you wouldn't give him another go ?
