I thought I read Brown....
Smith is far superior in attack then Salmon who offers f**k all in halves. He does nothing at all. Did he even take one kick today ? He might be a good centre but he isnt a halves asshole

I agree that Salmon is not a half.
Will Smith probably is a better half than him. He's still not that great though, and Salmon is obviously better in defence than Smith.
Salmon would be fine at half if the players around him, especially Moses, are playing well. Last week they were. This week not so much.

It all starts with defence. Our wrestle was non existent. Rarely were players put on their back. Once Newy got a roll on our guys struggled. Marker defence was terrible but as a result of soft defence, poor technique and no line speed.
Attack looked ok considering Newy beat the starters gun on every tackle.
Unfortunately we dont handle adversity which regretably has been evident for years and yes, also in 2017.
I told anyone who cared to listen that Atkins is garbage. Im convinced today that hes as bad as Perenara.

I haven’t watched it yet. Sounds like a good old fashioned ambush.
Mate, it's like a conga line. Your lot was behind the WT last week, rhythmically thrusting and grinding to the beat. This week, Newy is behind you doing the same.
At least you got a turn catching, AND pitching.

We will probably get stuck out into the outfield next week.
Or back in the bullpen.

Don't forget Simple Jack Wighton

Sezer could play 6 but the Raiders prefer an uncreative fullback with no kicking game over him lol

Well there was a bit to like about a performance today.

Sivo is a genuine NRL quality winger and can start to be used as a strike weapon.

MJ is not passed it and maybe good for a 1-2yr extension.

Same goes for Manu and Mannah.

Lane is an exceptional player.

Kafusi is going to be a beast by 2020. He will lead the pack.

We also are shown again that Moses and Gutherson are not great leaders and if either left are replaceable. I do not want our management to get swept up in a purple patch and ruin our squad by paying these guys overs. Gutherson is a loveable energetic character but unsure he worth 700k+ Moses will most likely always be rocks and Diamonds.
Aiden Seizer would be a solid replacement for Moses.

I also think it should be Takas last year. And if Tepai wants overs let him walk. A good player but lacks leadership and mongrel.

Keep in mind we do have Alvaro and both Browns to come back.

Yet we still got pumped? Go figure

I watched the first 20min on my phone and it looked like one of those games. Newcastle had all the ball, got 4 penalties in a row. We could not swing the momentum. Very hard to come back from that.

Loving the idea of a positive thread. Merkins keep away. :rage:

Lol apparently we can't even have that.

Merged despite not being a game day thread.

At the end of the day, Atkins tried to set the game tempo by penalising us in the ruck and 10 metres defence line for the first 20 minutes. Once possession slid into our favour the refs wanted the game to flow. That allowed the Knights far more leniency and the tough to get the same possession in crucial areas.
Turning point was Peni losing the ball on the first when 6 behind. Still don’t know why some forwards thinks it smart to run at the heart of defence at these times. There should be a 2 player switch to create space, not some boneheaded charge that always gets the same result. Most U15 and U16 no longer charge straight at the defence line on the first tackle inside the 10.
Need to learn from games like today and prepare for next week.
