Realistic team for 2011

Was Andrew Johns suddenly not the best player/halfback in the world in 2004 when he was out for almost the entire season?

And in case i've been misunderstood - I wasn't suggesting that Gaz wasn't the best or equally the best along with the other guys.
what the hell are we discussing exactly? can you please re-read my posts and reconsider wtf we're discussing here? i totally agree that hodges is quality, and in the top 3 centres in the game. i'm just cutting yosh some slack by pointing out that it's been a while now since we've seen hodges on the field... and it's forgivable to forget him under those circumstances.

i've never said once that hodges doesn't have the runs on the board, or that he's any less than a premier centre... yet you seem to feel the need to convince me of this pretty obvious fact? all i'm saying is it's easy to forget about or devalue a player when they're out with extended injuries.

none of your responses have made a lick of sense as far as what i'm saying goes. :? i don't disagree with anything you've said. what are you trying to convince me of?

Hate it when people get into arugments of what they said and what not. Just drop it guys!

What's important here is that we sign Gasnier at all costs!

Reading RLW this arvo Josh Perry wont be given another contract next year at Manly. Now honestly...do we think he could come back and play with the maturity that he is playing with at Manly?

Probably not, he has even been lazy at times with Manly in the past year or two!

He is the incumbent Australia and NSW prop... Dunno. He is really hot and cold so hard to tell if he is the type of guy we want here. Shouldn't be a prioity signing.

Gasnier - poor defence? Gasnier was always up there with Cooper at around about a 90% effective tackle rate. For a centre who often made 15 or so tackles that is pretty outstanding.

Sponge has signed a 2 year deal with St Helens, so no Sponge and I have to admit I am glad, he'd be back up too a 115kg's with no muscle tone by the end of the 2011 preseason.

Wouldnt suprise me if GI has to leave if he ends up at the Knights. Which would be great for me when I move to Port Macquarie.

Panthers are thinking really big.

Just signed Petero, signing Jennings and Pritchard and now chasing GI.

Now thats a club on the front foot!

Thats the story with newcastle at the moment though, we lose some shocking games but win other games that we shouldnt, we are consistently inconsistent. I want consistent players not hot and cold

The Panthers had their time where they were mediocre and had to rebuild. We are at that mediocre point now - if Penrith can think big enough and attract people who want to live and play in that sh*thole, surely Newcastle can!

Its the positive intent which is refreshing.

Yesterday we had Stone saying that we couldn't do anything until the NRL green lights it, today we've got the Panthers openly saying they'll chase GI hard.

We're passive and the Panthers are aggressive.

It also signals to the current Panthers team and up and comers within the club that the team is heading in the right direction and may be the catalyst to keep a Jennings or Pritchard at less money than the open market because they want to be part of something special.

Why wouldn't Burro sell the Newcastle dream and be active about chasing Storm players, ala Leary from Penrith.

Well said Nuffy. Definately need to be more aggressive and ambitious. Had enough of this lazy attitude and signing players no one else wants. The club structure need a winning mentality that will reflect on the playing staff!!!
