Rebuilding for Future

I fear our "rebuild" will be long time coming.

Believe it or not I dont point any fingers at the playing group.

Buying this player and that player is also not going to solve the problem.

Our problem is St George Illawarra. The Club.

No rebuild will be possible until we clean out the "old boys". Unfortunately, the dynasty has begun. Wave after wave of so called "bleeding Red and White" will continue to permeate our once great club.

The only possible scenario where we, the suffering loyal fans, could begin to see change is through memberships. It's unfortunate we have lemmings who renew without consideration of what that really means. Increasing memberships is a direct endorsement of what the Club, STGI, the Board and the coaching staff are doing. I hope they are happy with the mediocracy, their seats in the stand and their cap or scarf each year. I've heardxsone say "*^#@ it, i'll renew just in case we have a good year". Classic derpness.

The problem is how do we could encourage members NOT to renew given what was said above?

Whatever the answer, this is our only chance for any change and rebuild. Everything else is just dreaming!
Least the fans bleed red and white

You're assuming that the membership figures provided by the club are real.

The club has not increased based real memberships.
Ppeople who did not renew from last year (like me) and have not been contacted to ask why or if I am going to renew...I am still a member
Take this into account the free game to school kids (stacks of em) and junior passes to games are counted as memberships
Memberships for adults can be as little as a 4 game basic no seat hill package at one of the stadiums.
Season ticket holders or the actual yearly memberships are dwindling.
Ask the club to break up where all the memberships come from and then we can see the real picture

Thank you for that insight. Much appreciated.
Makes more sense than the increased membership they keep spruiking.

That could also be a sign of a blood infection..
A sign yes.. or no. Depends on the balance of the red and white Muzby but we are passed infection stage. We are parasites for success.

Talking re the future I cant see us signing anyone of note before the 30th June....as a matter of fact cant see us signng anyone period.....and if anyone is looking forward to seeing Widdop in the red v again think again....imo I cant see him playing for us ...do you think he is going to risk his shoulder and his back to the UK future when we are at the bottom of the table......as a matter of fact the trooper that he is I doubt whether Mr Graham will be rushing back either

Yep, we couldnt even sign Raymond Faitala-Mariner from the Dogs.

"Faitala-Mariner’s management spoke with the Dragons today but the two parties were unable to come to terms.
The 25-year-old Kiwi is now expected to stay at the Bulldogs until his contract is complete at the end of next season."

The club probably only offered him half of the JDB money they've been allocated hoping he'd take it so they could then go and sign another nuffie.

Gould would be the one that should come here and sort the mess out, but I don’t see that happening because he would want control of the coaching staff and players.
I think the Board would not want that to give away their so called power.
Another thing for me is the move from Kogarah, I feel that a lot of players we could/might chase might not want to live in Wollongong. I am not disrespecting the Gong in any way.
Some of our signings are beyond reason, we seem to go after fringe players who are not wanted by other clubs. We need to be focused on getting players that are capable of playing first grade.
McGregor and his staff including Millward need to go.
Look at how bad Manly were last year, they won like 6 games last year, Des comes in and they have more then that in just half a season.
We have the players we just need a new coaching structure, otherwise we will have to accept our teams being bottom eight in years to come.
I will always support my team through thick and thin

We can all get on this forum, me included and rant and rave about the coach, management, indivual players etc. One point we are overlooking, and nothing will change until this problem is fixed. I don't care who the coach, management etc is .
In this year's preseason Michael Ennis, whom I personally think is a master of the game and his knowledge is second to none said,
From 6 to 13 the dragons look unstoppable then it goes pear shape rapidly. He is exactly right, except for Lomax, the rest just don't cut it.
Opposition coaches are not stupid. How much ground did Manly make up the guts when McInness left the field, they played to our weakness. Every week our centres get attacked because a weakness has been identified. High kicks go to our wingers because they are four feet tall, etc etc.
So we can sack Mary, get Gould blah blah blah. Do what you like. But until there are major changes in the backline, nothing will change. Not this year, next year or the year after that.

I guess if you look at it salary cap wise Widdop and DeBelin would be taking up a huge slice one would think?...so we wouldn't have to many dollars to splash around...and to top it off cant see anyone of note wanting to come here under McGrexit
