Plodders. Is that the current Qld origin player, and 2 current Kiwi test players, one of which is captain you are talking about. Doesn't Tom come of the bench for NQ. Your TV must be on the blink.

Their pack is still 2 props light but the starting pack at least is a match for any in the comp for the first couple of years at least. Presuming the legs dont go on the old timers lol.

You'd write that team off if their coach wasn't Wayne Bennett

That's all they have going for them at this point after missing out on nearly every big name they've gone in hard for

The Storm players who've signed with Redcliffe are well past their prime. Gilbert's best years are ahead of him. In ten years from now people will be talking about Gilbert's contribution to the club and won't remember the other blow-ins from Melbourne.

Thats a massive call given how well the Bromwich boys played against Tonga on Sat night

I

It'll be interesting to see how they go outside of Melbourne's system. Plenty of Melbourne players have crashed when they moved clubs.
None if them had ever moved onto a bennett run side though, thats always been the knock on the Melbourne system players, these players leave Melbourne and go to the cowboys, titans, or warriors.. not winning games if thats the case.... cooper cronk goes to the roosters wins two in a row... its not about the Melbourne system... its the choice of team they had gone to, and whether they would make an impact there, a prop like jordan mclean at the cows, or a backrower like kevin proctor at titans won't solve their issues, but a cooper cronk will..., Nico Hynes and Dale Finucane at the Sharks has..
We are talking about 3 of the most potent Melbourne forwards in the game, dolphins will be fine

Matt Burton will be a target of Bennett for sure.. Not taking up a player option and in need of a pay rise, sounds like a marquee signing to me..

Yeh not many get better, though in recent times it seems to have improved. Big Tino and Hynes spring to mind.

I've always thought if Hughes went to another club, he would prove to not be the superstar halfback the commentators make him out to be

I actually think Hughes is under rated. Munster gets the accolades but Hughes is the one consistently leading the team to victories.

He does a great job for Melbourne but you look at what most teams need of a halfback, he's not really your typical game organiser which is why I think at any other club that didn't have the quality around him in the spine that Melbourne has, I think he would struggle

I'm guessing as Dolphins are light in the props dept we can expect a Matt Lodge announcement any day?
Well O'sullivan was the recruiter at the warriors, he got lodge there, there's also a lot of props there too, i feel it's a priority for him to make sure the team has depth in that department, its actually smart as its very hard to get large humans to act as a battering ram for unders, especially 1st grade talent... any other position any footballer can play, e.g cameron smith at hooker, euen aiken backbrow, jack bird utlility.. but a prop is a prop

Hold on you got R Jennings as 1st grade yet hasn't played a nrl game this year at penrith, but Sean O'sullivan has won 4 of 4 in the most important position on the field but is a reserve grader?
you are trying to shit on the phins here?

Sean O'Sullivan is a 1st grader at any other club.. and while we are there Milford will be no.6, Sunia Turuva will be on the wing/fullback.

Theyll be looking for a lock now, someone like dale finucane, cameron murray, or jake turbo... someone who is an out and out gun..
Unfortunately the guys that are off contract arent up in that calibre... but are useful nonetheless.
*Matt Eisenhuth (prop/lock),
*Jaemon Salmon(2ndrow/half),
*Jack Murchie (2ndrow/lock),
*Jack Gosiewski,(2ndrow/centre)
*Michael Chee-Kaam,(centre/lock)
all are pretty good buys, and can play either, centre, back row or lock, hopefully could get all 5 and really flesh out the team, also bronx, bulldogs and sharks have over 8 players each not signed up yet... get a move on phins!

Knowing Bennett and of whats left with cap and time tho, dolphins will most likely get Proctor, McLean, Peachey and McGuire...
With all this bullshit regarding having some salary cap exemptions, it wouldn't matter theyll be players looking for a start, where they wont get one where their at,and will jump at the dolphins for unders, and unless they're trying to court matt burton for over 1.3 million the following year the salary cap should be fine... even then PVL would have made it clear to the Auditors not to look under the bonnet until year 2 or 3, its what you call a modest cap, fans happy, clubs happy
