Redcliffe Dolphins recruitment targets

Not expecting to stack starting 17 but surely there’d be one or two good Redcliffe prospects you’d want in the 30 man squad? Maybe they’ll have a couple with them last 7 places left?
Redcliffe have a colts squad already along with a QCup team (Thats is currently feeding to the Warriors)

Any player currently signed beyond 2022 to those 2 squads (and isnt a Warriors contracted player) is already signed to the Redcliffe NRL club and its pathway system. There is zero reason to fill up the NRL squad with young, already contracted players until the recruitment team is satisfied they have the core of an NRL team is locked away

Look at the history of new teams and their squads from their 1st few years in the NRL and you'll not find many "locals" making their debuts.

That’s a big blow to a hope they could improve their spine. They’ll go all in for Munster now you’d think.

I wonder if the bad blood is because of Dolphins tapping up Warriors players whilst based at Redcliffe?

The Dolphins are reportedly fuming after Reece Walsh snubbed the NRL expansion side to return to the Brisbane Broncos next season in a bombshell move.
Walsh has reportedly turned down a huge offer from Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins, who were “furious” Walsh had been allowed to negotiate exclusively with the Broncos.
It is another bitter blow for the Dolphins, who are yet to land a marquee signing ahead of their entry into the NRL next year.
The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield, revealed some “bad blood” between the Warriors and the Dolphins may have scuppered any potential deal.
“Warriors gave him conditional release that he goes to Broncos,” Rothfield tweeted.
“Bad blood between Dolphins and Warriors,” he tweeted.
Nine’s Ben Dobbin added the Dolphins were “furious” at that news and have contacted the NRL seeking clarification.
“The Dolphins have rung the NRL this morning furious and demanding clarification on why the Warriors are allowed to dictate the only club Reece Walsh is allowed to play at,” Dobbin tweeted.
“Brisbane Broncos will have drama around the roster for 2023 now.”

Bless, I see what you did there
D-, Must troll better.
No troll, honest answer, you keep banging on about pathways, then say PNG or East tigers can feed WA, why? why is perth worthy of these clubs, why cant they just get their own licence, as if perth will garner any effort to get them further past qcup status.... norths on the other hand... (no more NSW)

Kodi Nikorima will become yet another foundation Dolphin who will return to Queensland to be part of the club’s entry to the NRL.

Nikorima has been signed to a two-year deal to boost the Dolphins’ depth in the hooker position, where he will compete with Jeremy Marshall-King and young gun Harrison Graham for the number-nine jersey.

He is a pretty handy utility, can cover halves too, been doing a good job at souffs

NRL 360 : carrying on about Bennett not being able to sign players 🤦‍♂️
This roster could beat half the comp and they're not finished yet!!
Not to mention... coached by Bennett!!
Best coach in history!
They'll be in the 8 or there abouts first year.

It's more about the hypocrisy on display

They threw their arms around when Walsh signed with Brisbane without the Dolphins getting the opportunity to throw down their chips.. yet were in the media talking about Munster effectively breaking his contract

They were complaining about Sean O'Sullivan not getting game time in the NRL and potential ruining his development, yet that's exactly what Bennett did with Justin Hodges back in the day when he signed with the Rooster (threw him in reserve grade to see out the year)

I’m more worried about how Bennett will leave them, has a history of leaving clubs in a mess. (Dragons, Knights).

This will be his last coaching contract, you would think, so I don't think he will get the opportunity to take a few key players with him

I was just looking at Page 1 of this thread (20 posts), and the only signings from all the names mentioned are J Bromwich and Nikorima.

It was never going to be a case of getting every best player available, and think the squad is looking quite decent, with a few more signings to come.

Wrong Penrith halfback, that they were talking about, the talk is surrounded about Isaiya Katoa, not Sean O'Sullivan
